Re: Duet vs. Silver Fox????

Im not trying to be biased since I booked w/Duet but I was at a showcase yesterday and happen to be talking to Silverfox..interested in video. Well, after telling them that I had Duet for photo, he pratically bashed them for their language problem & blah, blah, blah. First of all, as far as the work that Duet and Silvefox, its pretty similar and good but dont be bashing on my photographer. Yea, I am not taking them for video!
Not a good way to do business!
Sorry.

ETA: oh and the a la carte thing with Silverfox....Duet beat them on price!

Re: Duet vs. Silver Fox????

I am having issues with this too. I saw Silver Fox, but not duet, we are going to make an appointment with them for next weekend. We did see Patken, and added everything up. Silverfox was a couple hundred dollars more then patken, not really all that much of a difference. Patken gives you one photographer that does both traditional and photojournalistic, Silverfox gives you two photographers.
I absolutely LOVED silverfox's video. The only reason I am hesitaiting about booking them is because of the 1/3 deposit. Thats a lot of money to put down. So we decided to go see what duet has to say. I really like Patken too, I am really confused.
I probably didn't help you at all, I'm sorry

Re: Duet vs. Silver Fox????

Thats ok...so you only get 1 photographer with Patken...can you get 2????

It seemed they would work with you on the deposit to hold the date...I think I remember that.
Do you remember anything about a casual day shoot at SF???

Re: Duet vs. Silver Fox????

Patken never mentioned 2 photographers, but then again we never asked. It seemed though that it was one photographer that does everything.

I asked John at silverfox about the engagement shoot and he said, yes they do a complimentary one.

If you really love SF, than just book now on what you know you want - ie album, parents, video. He told me we can always sign on for more after the wedding once we get some cash back. Also recommended doing thank yous and portraits ourselves since they give us a disc. Hope this helps

Re: Duet vs. Silver Fox????

This post is such a help for me. I've heard so much about all 3 (Duet, Silver Fox and Patken). The lady that does my nails got married a few months ago and she used patken. Her pix's were beautiful.

I can't wait to start making appointments.

Re: Duet vs. Silver Fox????

We loved them both, but ultimately went with duet.. we love their work and their price was right. I understand the concern that you stated, because we had the same feeling, but there has been so many good things said about them, that I feel very confident in our decision.

oops, I didn't realize this post was from a long time ago... my bad..

Re: Duet vs. Silver Fox????

sorry, I am late to the post! I just wanted to make a comment on SF bashing Duet regarding their language barrier.

When I met with Duet, there are times I had to ask them to repeat things to me, but Eric was always curteous and patient. My parents speaks English with an accent and I would be so upset if anyone makes fun of them on that.

Vendors bashing another vendors is not the way to conduct business and extremely unprofessiona IMO! If they were bashing Duet on other things that's within their control, then that's a different story.

Sorry, this comes close to home and I just had to comment!

Re: Duet vs. Silver Fox????

They are Asian -- No Offense, but DH & I were worried we'd have a difficult time understanding them too...after our meeting with Duet.

Duet's work is phenomenal! But we went with SF because they did fantastic work and we had no problems communicating with them!

Re: Duet vs. Silver Fox????

They are Korean. I started off speaking to him in Korean but just switched to English because I'm decent but not fluent in the language. I had to ask him to repeat a few things too but I didn't mind too much. He said that the photographers speak English better than him.
