Hero!!

FH sister is from VT and when she was visiting once we got HEROS from the pizzeria and she asked me how my 'grinder' was. I was like 'What are you talking about??'

Yeah when I was in college all of my friends were from CT and they called them Grinders and they got alcohol from Package store


yup. in college everyone called it the packy...(the package store)


Oh God..the Packy! They were like well what do you call it....Duh the Liquor store!

I went to SUNY Geneseo, and we had this debate all the time:

Hero is a LI term
Grinder is a New England term
Sub is Central/Western New York term
Wedge, I have friends from Westchester use that term

Must be why my vote was for Sub... 22 years in the Hudson Valley vs 7 years on LI... Sub is in the brain!

Though...DH is born and raised LIer and I think he's a sub guy too...

being from south jersey down near philly, we call these types of sandwiches hoagies ( pronounced
ho-gies) and, just for other info, Wawa makes the best ones

Good Times! I went to school in RI, so they had packy stores too. Heros were called Grinders or Hoagies. Ordering a 'pie' (pizza) was unheard of!
