engagement basket

Hi Guys My brother should be getting engaged soon and for that evening I want to surprise them with a cute basket filled with goodies for their engagement. So far I ordered a wedding countdown clock and a Kim Anderson(she loves her stuff) figurine. Some other cute ideas I was thinking of was a bottle of champagne and toasting flutes, a wedding music CD, subscription to brides magazine, a frame with the date. I would appreciate any suggestions--also would you guys like a gift like this???, it's not their "engagement" gift, just something for that night............Thanks Gina

All I have to say is... What a cool idea! :)

My sister(bride) and I(MOH) are going to check out Sweetwater the band this weekend at the Holiday Inn in Plainview has anyone heard them before, do you know there price range, are they worth the money? We have never heard them, but, they came reccomended by our photographer. She has a budget of $3500 and she does not like club type music.

Thanks,

What a sweet idea! There's a new mag out called "Grooms," maybe you should get your brother a subscription.

You could pull down some info. on halls, vendors, and roll them into scrolls with ribbon. Then they can read them together one night over champagne. Probably save them some time searching too!

That's a great idea. One other thing you could put in it, if you haven't bought it already, is a magazine called Locations. It tells you all about local catering halls, what their capabilities are and they give you the telephone number and contact persons for each hall. It's a great book> I bought it myself and find it very useful.

PS: If you are interested I bought it at Barnes & Nobel

Gina,

Another good idea that I have seen in the past for an engagement or to do at the shower.

In the basket put your brother's favorite things. If he likes spaghetti, put it in the basket. If he likes a certain shampoo, put in in the basket.

I THink it's a great idea. Shows that you really care and share in the exitement of his engagement. I wish someone would have put that much thought into my engagement.

Just a little pet peeve of mine.....

Thanks for your help!

engagement basket-update

I just wanted to let you all know it was a success. They loved the basket and everyone thought it was a great idea. He asked her while she was giving a test to her students. He sent one of the students in with a dozen red roses and a card attached that in spanish(her subject) said will you marry me--she screamed, he walked in and the students screamed--she said YES! I thought that was a pretty cool engagement......They booked the Fox Hollow for 10/01 Gina :)

Good Luck!
