Re: Engagement Ring

I also like rings with blue gemstones. So i usually go for either blue diamonds or sapphire or aquamarine. Among them i like aquamarine the most as they give a simplified and elegant look to the ring.

Re: Engagement Ring

My FH and I went to Jared's to look for engagement rings with a friend of ours who was also looking for an ring to show her BF. I picked out a few ones that I liked, but couldn't find one that 'wowed' me. Ultimately it was his decision and I would've been happy with any ring he chose. Luckily, he found a ring that had all the aspects I was looking for (princess cut, think white gold band, and classic look).

Re: Engagement Ring

I guess i differ from the majority, i do think it's lame to pick out your own e-ring, i see it as a gift and a surprise on his part, and i much rather not impose the 'ring of my dreams'; he'll pay what he's willing or can afford to pay, it's not up to me to decide his gift to me! And if your man knows you he will get a ring that suits you.

Well said lady! But being females, we have got an envision about our engagement ring and wish to get it although its upon the guy to understand that. But guys usually have least knowledge about engagement rings and so they need to struggle when they need one to arrange a surprise proposal for their love. At such times, a lady needs to guide them with the proper selection.

Re: Engagement Ring

I went ring shopping with my FH at his request. He said that this is a big investment that we will have for the rest of our lives and he wanted me to be happy with it. So I went with him to give him ideas b/c I did not even know what I wanted. We went to a few different stores and I gave a few things I liked and told him I wanted to keep it simple and he picked out the most gorgeous ring and suprised me with it a few months later.

Re: Engagement Ring

Im so glad i have found this thread.

My fiance picked the ring completly by himself, and i absoloutly looove it. its even nicer than anything i would have been able to pick. However, because it was a complete suprise, i hadnt ever tried any on, and obviously they can look very different once they are actually o your finger. Although i love it, there is just something sliiightly not quite perfcet about mine, which has started to bother me so i went to try a few on. Long story short, i realised that my six claw setting is set quite low down. I found myself really liking the settings which were the similar, but set higher, -as long as the claws were not too thick- or even those claws which had a twist??

I have been quoted a good price to get my diamond reset which seems like a great idea...however the thought makes me feel a little bit guilty, especially the twist as it would take the ring from a 6 claw to a four claw, making it look quite different.

Ive spoken to my fiance about it and he is perfectly happy for me to do it but i still feel a bit bad b/c it wont all be the ACTUAL ring he proposed with. and what if i got it done and deicded it wasnt right? (it def does need to sit higher, but what if i get the wrong style- im quite indecisive!)

what do you think?
xxx

Re: Engagement Ring

My fiance and I went to try on rings a few times 'for fun' when we knew we wanted to get married. He knew the style I liked and the absolute don'ts for me. He also knew my ring size.

But we were also looking to buy a house so all of our time and funds were going toward that. FH and I talked about it and we both agreed we would get engaged a year after we bought our house when our finances recovered from the downpayment. Of course i wanted to get engaged right away but I knew I had to be realistic...

Imagine my shock when he proposed with a gorgeous ring on the day we closed our house! I was SO shocked because he has a bad track record of ruining surprises so I couldn't believe he pulled it off. Had no clue and the ring is perfect. He really listened to what I said I liked and did a great job picking the one.

I think it definitely pays to speak up! You might not know the exact style you want but you probably know what you absolutely DON'T. That helps them out too.

Re: Engagement Ring

i picked out my own ring and wouldnt have it any other way my fh is a little clueless when it comes to shopping as most men are i think he actually appreciated that i went with and like some of you i tried on settings that i thought i would love and i wound up trying it on and i was like blah....so thank god ... i also think that in some cases a diamond is forever and a ring isnt.. make sure your fh gets the diamond that you want cut clarity color whatever is most important to you... because people change there setting over time but always usually keep the original diamond.

Re: Engagement Ring

We piocked together and it was one of the best experiences. What I thought I wanted I didn't want and it did not look good.

I picked out my engagement ring because i wanted a specific style, and since I will be wearing the ring everyday for the rest of my life, I wanted something that takes my breath away!
