maybe he meant 'why would there be anything else to do' and not 'why are you cancelling'?? just a thought

thats a thought!! if his response was more than one word it would be easier to understand! lol
I figured it meant why are u cancelling because im assuming they require something with a signature to cancel, i would prefer something in writing i know... i would hope with that whole thing a while ago with fake people trying to cancel other people's vendors that there would be some actual documentation on behalf of both parties.

thanks for offering a different perspective on the situation!

ok i know who it is i am like nancy drew with a great memory.

anyway it IS rude *BUT unfortunately i think you need to cover your behind and make sure you dont end up owing the entire amount of the contract SO i think like a PP mentioned just write back asking if there is anything you need to do to finalize the cancellation. If you STILL do not get a satisfactory answer just fax over an official letter.

Make sure you keep PRINTED copies of all the emails and the fax

good luck!

yup...i will repeat what i originally wrote about what else needs to be done to finalize and yes nancy drew u kno who it is
and i read the contract like 1000000 times and theres just about 2 lines about cancelling saying that the deposit is forfeited...thats all! wheww...
ill see how he answers the next email and then deal with it when i get back from florida!

Re: Ew...is this rude? Vendor Rant....

I think it is pretty rude and unprofessional how he responded. You do not need to explain yourself. Plus, like you said, he didn't even write a greeting or a little note to go with it which is not the right way to handle this situation.

Re: Ew...is this rude? Vendor Rant....

I would e-mail back 'BECAUSE I SAID SO'!!!!

Either way you take it 'why are you cancelling' or 'why would you need to do anything else' it was still kinda rude and unproffesional. People use e-mail too casually sometimes and not as professionally as they should.

Re: Ew...is this rude? Vendor Rant....

That is rude, this happened to me too.

The vendor asked why, but she said she's only asking so that she can better improve her company.

But your guy was extremely rude. You dont owe him an

Re: Ew...is this rude? Vendor Rant....

SCANDALOUS!! One word answers to an email are almost always inappropriate particularly in a professional capacity. Seeing as he just got some free $$ b/c the deposit was non refundable, why is he crying? ugh...grow a pair and grow up!!

ok so I had a situation where I have to cancel a vendor I booked a few months ago bc I found some1 better for me and FH. Soooo I wrote a very polite email saying that I unfortunately have to cancel their services, that I was sorry for any inconvenience, that i understand the deposit is non-refundable and was asking if there is anything else I need to do to finalize this decision. (someting with a signature, etc.)
Sooo the vendor writes me back a ONE word response that says: 'why?'
Is it just me or is this really rude?? No greeting, no respopnse to my question about how to finalize the decision.
I dont think I have to explain myself to him...what do u think?? I am giving him over 9 months to fill my date which is very popular so im sure he will have no problem. Plus he is a very popular vendor on here so im sure he will book some1 for that day....err some people just really annoy me

Well, I'm the BOTW, and I say OFF WITH THEIR HEADS. I have the power to do that sort of thing, right??

Re: Ew...is this rude? Vendor Rant....

honestly, i dont think it was rude
i think maybe he was caught off guard?
maybe just wondering if there was something he could have done better
or as i said, possibly asking 'why' would you have to do anything else other than notify him
