Feeding Hank Lane band?

I am told that everyone feeds their wedding band, but when we booked Joel Young through Hank Lane, the sales man told us not to feed them and we would be wasting our money. He said we could feed them, but their musicians are professionals and do not expect to be fed. considering it would be an extra $600 or so to feed them, I am leaning to not feed them. is anyone not feeding them?

I'm definitely giving my band (a Hank Lane band) food. I think that's common courtesy and i have no idea why the sales person would say that. Seems kind of odd.

I am not booked with Hank Lane, but I asked my band leader. I wrote 'I have heard that within the industry, it is common that the couple offers either a meal or a tip at the end of the wedding. I was wondering if this is true and which you all prefer.' I work in the restaurant industry and wouldn't want to do wrong by anyone, and he knew this, as we have spoken at length. He told me that they don't expect a a meal. (He also told me that they don't expect a tip, to save our money for the honeymoon, but I feel that this was just him being nice.)

I also have a bunch of friends in different wedding bands, and have asked them about this. They all have told me that they usually don't expect meals. They told me they will graze during cocktail hour, and if they think they'll be hungry during the reception, they'll bring a snack or small meal with them. One friend even told me that it's a waste of money to serve the band an entire meal, because their breaks are not long enough to eat.

I don't know if any of this information helps, I hope it does. I am going to tip my band, but I am not going to offer them a meal.

The guy I met with at Hank Lane said the same thing to me about Joel Young Band. I thought it was a weird thing to say as well because I assumed we would offer them a meal. They are a preferred vendor at my RH so I'm not sure if I will have to pay should they eat, that's something I will have to ask. Because they play for entirety of the reception I don't know when the would eat, perhaps during the cocktail or our after the reception ends.

My understanding is that catering halls discount vendor meals. My ex's father is a band leader. Never heard of them not being served

We used a Hank Lane band last weekend and we definitely fed them. They happened to be a recommended vendor so it was free, but we 100% would have fed them anyway. They don't take breaks and play for the entire 4 hours - they just do shifts to go eat.

I thought so…which band did you use? Were you happy with them?

We used Dane Wright. They were fantastic from start to finish. Dane himself is a great guy, tons of fun, very acommodating. All of the band members were totally into it, rocking out. My DOC said it was the first time they've seen a dance floor packed before the bridal party entrance. I can't say enough great things about them.
