Im thinking it will be best if they total it. Its a 2001
If it will cost more to fix than the book value, then they will indeed total it.
I'm such a Car insurance geek.

They will only total it if the damage is more than 80% of the vehicles worth. If they do total it they will pay off the remainder of the car and cut you a check for the difference.
Wow, the company I work for is real strict ( since we only insure high risk drivers) and we let them go all the way to the total worth!
