Fiance thinks I'm crazy!

I need reassurance. Our wedding is in April 2001 and I am beginning to look for ideas on the Internet, shop for a dress and do a few other things.

I have put all info collected in a 3 ring binder for easy access. I am urging us to register now for anyone who wants to get us engagement gifts.

He jokingly refers to me as "out of control" but little does he realize if I do not do these things now, I WILL BE OUT OF CONTROL!!

Lisa - you're doing fine. If you don't get started, then you will feel out of control later. We registered before our engagement party so we got a lot of stuff we wanted for that. Otherwise, people will just buy stuff that may be wonderful or may be awful. The best thing to do is be orgnaized. I got everything done early and then had some time where we really didn't have anything to do. Then it all speeds up again a month or 2 before the wedding.

I guess I feel like I am going to be a pain in the neck. I mean the sheet they gave us promised coat attendent, restroom attendent, fresh floral arrangement in lobby and powder room, bud vases with fresh cut flowers, etc. No of which is on the contract. But I would hate to let it go and there be an issue that day, you know?

Also, did you include the # of bartenders and wait staff?

Don't worry you're not crazy. I kind of went a little batty when we first got engaged, bought a million magazines and surfed the net non-stop. But my fi caught. A few months after we got engaged, he put a binder together (with avery lables & everything) with sections for all the vendors to file away checks and contracts. Very impressive. As for registering, we haven't. We have eight months to go. I didn't want to register and then have to keep on changing things as I change my mind. I think we'll register a few weeks before we have an engagement party (we haven't had on yet), or before the shower. I guess registereing will depend on how soon you have an engagement party.

Don't stress. It's normal to want to do everything at once. Just remember that you can't. ;-)

Registering for engagement gifts is a thoughtful idea - esp if you're having a party. We didn't, so most people gave us cash as a gift....

Just know that if you register now, be prepared to go back in 6 month intervals to update b/c inventory changes. I only registered in December and I just received a letter from Fortunoff's regarding the discontinuance of my sheets.....

Good luck - and take it slow. Even with the best plans, expect things to go a little nutty at times & roll with it! ;)

Fiance thinks I'm crazy!

I think you're doing great. My fiancee has been doing all the running around, but I have been keeping track of everything. I used to have a binder but now I do it all on line. There are free wedding planners on line that you should check out. It keeps track of everything from your budget to your invites. As for registering, I wouldnt do it too early, as things get discontinued often. If you do register... keep up on it and look at the registry frequently.

BEST OF LUCK

Brendan

Fiance thinks I'm crazy!

EARLY is always better- i found out. That is how I operated and , at this point, I am 5 months away. Had the reception hall, priest, dress,dj and photographer/video within the first 3 months of being engaged. working on ceremony musicians, flowers, and hair people now...since our date is 7/2...4th of July weekend.. we had to be early for almost everything! And do register...so you go back once or twice? WE are partly registered...waiting for the bridal registry of Bed,bath & beyond to go online!!

What I decided is to wrap the favor in a clear party bag that has blk & white confetti printed on it, and has confetti inside. Tie it up with a ribbon and attach the place card to the bag. This way, one per couple/person. I am also putting together little goody bags for the kids and attaching their placecard to them as well. These will be set up on a table outside the hall ...just like the placecards normally would be. What to you think?

We did the 1 day precana gig. Paul works in NJ and I work in Suffolk county (we live in Queens). the 4 meeting precana would have been difficult to coordinate with our schedules.

Fiance thinks I'm crazy!

My wedding isn't until August 2001, and we have the church the hall, the dj, an idea for the limo, the bridesmaids and bestmen picked out, and I have started shopping for the dress. I would rather have everything done now, than have to go crazy within a year of the wedding. Too much to do and my fiance works most weekends.

I would guess closer to or in woodbury would be easiest..since the returns can be done the next day.

Fiance thinks I'm crazy!

THE SOONER YOU GET THINGS DONE THE BETTER. ALL THAT STRESS LATER IS NO GOOD.SOME PLACES ARE BOOKING FOR 2003 ALREADY.MOST PEOPLE WILL GIVE MONEY OR OTHER TRINKETS FOR THE ENGAGEMENT SO YOU DO NOT HAVE TO REGISTER RIGHT AWAY. THE TIME SPEEDS BY AND THE NEXT THING YOU KNOW YOU WILL HAVE THREE MONTHS LEFT AND A BUNCH TO DO. YOU ARE NOT CRAZY ......... CHRIS

I guess I was looking at it in only a negative light. I will try to include her in some things but I feel like it might get out of hand. Give an inch...

We'll see.
