First fitting tomorrow - help?

I'm having my first fitting tomorrow and I'm not sure what to expect...Other ?s....What's the duration between fittings? 2 weeks?

How many fittings are there? I've heard at least 3?

And....how close to your wedding day should the last fitting be?

First fitting tomorrow - help?

I have more questions as well. How far in advance should you start fittings. I currently have 4 months. Should I start fittings within the next month or closer to the wedding? Any responses will be greatly appreciated.

First fitting tomorrow - help?

Hi Ladies: I just recieved word my gown is in. My wedding is May 26th - 4 months like you. I told her I didnt want to come in yet because I want to drop a few pounds. My bridal shop said about 6 weeks prior should be the first fitting because brides tend to loose weight at the last minute. She said I could even wait until 3 weeks before. I think it depends on the shop, how many seamstresses are available, etc. My shop is extremely organized and they have 2 full time seamstresses.

Hi...looking to find a beach location. Something smaller and more inimate than Sunken meadow. We'd prefer Suth shore. Having trouble geting permisson. Don't want to be forced to leave mid-ceremony. Already have reception plans elsewhere. Any suggestions? Thanks....Lauren

First fitting tomorrow - help?

Ok ladies, I can only tell you what I have experienced this far. My wedding is 2/26. When my dress first came in, I went to the bridal shop to try it on. I strongly suggest this!! This way you get to inspect the dress, make sure that they sent the right one, and make sure that it fits, or is not too big. You will also get a better idea, of the amount of alterations needed to the dress, and maybe even the number of visits that you will need to make. I just tried it on! They did nothing to the dress. My first fitting was 1/8/00 and the only thing that they did was alter the bodice and hem the sleeves. my second fitting was 2 weeks later and they did the hem and tapered the sleeves. I have another fitting on Sat. which was two weeks later, and the plan is to do the bussell, and add the additional appliques that I ordered with the dress. I am expecting to have one last fitting once the dress is complete the week before the wedding, and then pick it up that Thursday. My advise to you with respect to fittings is to have all of your undergarments with you that you intend to wear. I order a bra from the bridal shop and waited to try it on at my first fitting with the dress. I did not like it and went to another store to buy a better one. When I went back the bra fit so differently that additional alterations needed to be made. I have a cap on my alterations and they will continue to alter the dress until it fits perfectly so loosing weight during this process has not been a bad thing, it just adds to the amount of fitting that I might need to have.

Good Luck Jamelle

First fitting tomorrow - help?

I had the fitting Today. The pinned the hem, bustle (french - ooh la la! : ), the bodice and the skirt seams.

I ordered the bra from them and, quite honestly, it didn't fit right. I never thought I could refuse it once I ordered it. Now it actually needs to be stiched. ?

Can I tell them no and get a refund? Seems like alot of money to spend for a bra that needs to be fixed....
