Re: For people not inviting kids to the wedding

i am not putting it on the card. i am assuming it is implied by whoever's name is on the invite. if they put their kids down as a response i have no problem calling them up and telling them no.

I have done word of mouth. But for those twhich do not have a place to leave their kids. I have hired a baby sitter which will watch them in the hotel next door.

I am not putting adult reception. just kinda going by word of mouth. However for the e-party we didnt invite kids so hopefully they will get it haha.

but on the rsvp we are doing
___ seats have been reserved in your honour

(and we are writing the # of seats per the # of people we are inviting that get that invite)

i like that idea- thanks!

your welcome!!! i am definitely going to need this because i have a feeling we are going to have problems with who we invite

I am doing this too. I am letting people know that kids are not invited - I have a ton of second cousins and so does FH, but we just don't have the room or money to have them there. He has 5 first cousins who are young, and that may cause a stir with some family (my aunt who doesn't seem to understand that we can't afford to have her 7 grandkids, my cousins, there), but because they are 1st cousins, we hope they will understand.

I kinda feel like writing 'adult reception' on the invite underestimates people's ability to see that if their kids names are not on the invite, they are not invited. I dunno, i go back and forth. Maybe I will do all three - word of mouth, adult reception and make the rsvp card clearly state the number of seats reserved ...

this is more difficult for me because I have kids coming to our reception, but certain people children I don't want anywhere near the affair.

Fortunately for me, most people don't even want to bring their kids.

Word of mouth is the best way!

I'm having the same problem, i'm partial to some children but not others...so I just don't know...

Re: For people not inviting kids to the wedding

I am wondering the same thing. I have a couple of big issues revolving around this problem.

I am going to have a flower girl (3 yrs old), a ring bearer (8 yrs old) and my 11 yr old brother, who has autism, at the wedding. However, i don't want any of my guests to bring any of their children. It may sound offensive but to hear a baby/s crying or children having tantrums throughout the event is someting i would really like to avoid..

In all honesty, I don't even want my brother around the ceremony, cocktail hour or the reception.

Why do i feel this way? Because my brother tends to yell a lot in public and private places. I don't want him disturbing the reception. My mom doesnt know how to control his out of control behaviors. And i know my mom will take this as an offense when i tell her but i really feel it is necessary to leave him with a babysitter. I might have to find a babysitter that day but i don't know where they can move them to.

i feel the same way, i LOVE kids but if we allow everyone to bring kids we can end up with around 50 kids or so. Plus it is a late night wedding, it ends at 1:30, i really think its inappropriate for a kid. I also really dont understand how ANYBODY can bring their baby to such an event, its not right for the baby.

I am not putting it on the card. To me i just have this whole thing about writing 'adult reception' sounds like im having some xxx party , its just this weird thing i have about it. So its word of mouth and already spread the word. Plus since we did no kids for e-party alot of guests already know...were inviting kids about 12-13 years and up. Most of the kids are on fh's side and they said they will handle it and talk to the families.

that is soo funny because whenever I read adult reception I think about the same thing!!
and I thought I was the only one that thought that..

I'm hoping they will know because I am addressing everyone's invites separately.. and on the RSVP i'm not putting a how many are attending... there are only a few family members that will get 1 invite for 2 people.. and to them I will just tell them....

I'm hoping that will work out for me.
