OOOh the list is growing. We may definitely need a room for this. Perhaps a prix fixe menu might work too- could it keep costs down? It might be worth asking. Thursday night is a big night for going out. Reservations are a must

YAY! Portofino's is my absolute favorite place in the area. DH and I eat there pretty often. The garlic bread is the best!For those of you taking the subway, you can take the E, F, V or R (G doesn't run there at that time) to 71st and Continental. Exit on the South side of Queens Blvd. Walk east on Queens Blvd. to the corner of Queens Blvd and Ascan Ave. You'll pass a Commerce bank on your way. Portofino is on the Southeast corner of Queens Blvd. and Ascan.
Valet parking is free at Portofino, although I'm not positive if they have it on weeknights or just weekends...we almost always walk there, or we take the subway.

Yeah, we definitely need reservations. I have seen large groups sitting at very long tables when I've been there for dinner. I wonder how many people that more casual front section would hold. I've never sat up there.

It was just a thought. Maybe if we had a choice of a chicken, fish, pasta, veal etc, they could work with us. Either that or it may not make a difference. I would hate to have someone arrange something and have people not show up. They may ask for a minimum count. Geez as if planning weddings wasnt enough for all of us.

My experience with GTGs thus far has been that at least 5-7 people end up cancelling/not showing up at the last minute, so I would be a little nervous about having to meet a minimum....

I definitely agree that parking there is not so bad across the street. My allergist is across the street and I don't have much trouble finding parking.Looking forward to it!
