Re: Friday Night Weddings

I am having a Friday wedding and thought the church at 5pm would be too early and no one will come but honestly the people who want to be there will be there.
My CH starts at 7 so I hope people are up until 12am. I am sure you will be fine. True, everyone will be off and Friday night weddings are like Cocktail hour. It will be great! Enjoy!

Re: Friday Night Weddings

Hi Girls,

I am new to the website. I am newly engaged (less than a month) but we have already started looking for places. We went to the Watermill and I loved it. We are going to have to have a Friday night wedding because we can not guarantee enough people for the Saturday night.

My question is the time for Friday night is 8:00 cocktail hour reception ending at 1 am (so people don't feel rushed after work) is this too late?? Will alot of people leave the wedding early. Of course my mom mentions this to me today and has me really thinking about it. Are there any other brides doing a late Friday night wedding?

Please let me know your thoughts. Thank you very much.

P.S. I was reading the review about the Woodlands is there a website for it. Is it in Long Island. It sounds very interesting to me. Thanks.

I am getting married at the Woodlands-FM me if you want some info-

Friday night in Nov. 4PM ceremony and 8Pm cocktail hour-I am not really that worried about people leaving early-I figure that maybe some older people will leave early but that is it.

Re: Friday Night Weddings

Woodlands Bride here as well, and I'm getting married on a Friday night as well. We arranged for our CH to start at 7 PM and the reception will go until 12 AM. We felt that was a great time as it gives enough time for people to leave work, but then they're are not waiting until late to eat something.

I think a CH of 8 PM is fine as well, most people will stay because there is no work the next day and the have the whole weekend to relax. That's the great thing about Friday night weddings, you can pick and choose your start time!

Feel free to FM me as well on anything about The Woodlands.

Re: Friday Night Weddings

I am having a Friday wedding...Our CH starts at 7 & considering we are doing a full VH our wedding ends at 1am...I don't think many people will leave, it is a Friday...Even if they do, it will not bother me as it is My Wedding Day!!!!

Re: Friday Night Weddings

Seems like alot of the girls are having Friday weddings. They all seem to be starting late, but like everyone said it's a Friday night, and everyone has off Saturday. Your going to have a blast.

Re: Friday Night Weddings

I'm having Friday night 8:30-1:30....it gives people a chance to get home from work and get ready. A lot of girls on here seem to start at the same time and I've never read any complaints so I'd go for it

Re: Friday Night Weddings

I love late weddings, if anything it's more convenient for people to arrive late and leave late being most people work and have no work the next day.

I say it's perfect, go for it.

Re: Friday Night Weddings

My wedding went to 1:30 AM and the only people who left early were my elderly grandparents and aunts/uncles. Most of our friends had to be kicked off the dance floor.

I always feel like weddings end too early so I don't see any problem with what you are doing.

Also, the later ceremony starting time is a bonus because a lot of people came late to ours which started at 4.

Re: Friday Night Weddings

The Woodlands is in Woodbury. It is formely the Carnegie/Mellon Mansion. It is breath-taking......
Their website is woodlandsatwoodbury.com
I wanted to have my wedding there very badly but they could not accomodate the large amount of guests I am having (very few places can) which sounds like it would be perfect for you because you mentioned not being able to guarantee a large enough amount for Watermill's Saturday.
You should definitely look into it. It is different, so elegant and beautiful and I haven't heard of as many people getting married there which is kinda nice. I went to an e-party there and fell for it immediately b/c of how classy it is--their staff is so great and the food was amazing!!
As for Friday night, I don't think that 1am is too late because people generally don't have work the next day. I think if people are going to leave they are going to leave either way, if they are having a good time--which I'm sure they will, they will stay.
Also, if you feel it is too late I still think the earlier (I think 7, 7:30 they start) would be okay too. I've been to many Friday weddings and didn't feel rushed, I even made the church in most cases, left a little early from work if i had to, etc.
GOOD LUCK to you and Congrats!!!

Re: Friday Night Weddings

I personally like friday night weddings better because it gives you all weekend to recover! haha

and 8 o'clock start time is great cause it gives people plenty of time to get out of work and wind down first..before they get ready to party.
