Saturday if you can afford the high prices!!! It will be great b/c you have the weekend , guests have the weekend to relax...

Did you pick your reception site? I see you have Jon Anthony's or the Meadow Club.

I am getting married 3/27/04 and my reception is at the Meadow Club on a Saturday night. I was surprised that their prices we so good compared to other places.

But if you want either Friday night or Saturday day, I think Saturday would be good. Then you don't have to worry about people getting there after work. Good Luck.

Originally we had a daytime affair planned but as you said we wanted the nightime ambience so we moved it to night!

My vote goes to Friday Night!!

I'm with Octbride03 - my wedding is also on a Sunday night... And if I had to choose between a Friday night wedding and a Saturday Day wedding - I would definitely choose the Friday night.
It's your day choose whichever one will make you most happy.

I'm having a Friday evening wedding, but I originally wanted a Sat party. But most places didn't even want to quote us for Sat unless we guaranteed 150 or more people. And it's about $30 more for a Sat evening. Good Luck!!

I would go for the Friday night wedding...my brother got married on a Friday night and it was a blast! Everyone is in party mode after the work week and many catering halls claim the most fun weddings are Friday nights. Saturday day weddings, IMO, are tough to get going. Its weird to get up and dance and drink when its only noon. Plus I never know what to wear to them! JMO. Good luck with your decision.

I would pick Friday night. I'm really not one for afternoon weddings. It's hard to get into the partying mode.

I keep reading about all these suggestions about having a party wedding on Friday night (Mines on Sat Day now). I am having 2nd thoughts!!! I want a great party, great music and LOTS of alcohol

... this thread is making me feel like a Sat day wedding isnt going to be as much fun. Im about to call my caterer and change the time...

I'm having a Saturday Day wedding. I couldn't afford the Saturday Night wedding. Plus I have a lot of people coming from out of town. 1/2 the guestlist at least so I didn't think it was fair do to Friday night. Additionally, I'm getting married outside on the water so I think it will be cool at night anyway.

I think if you have a fun crowd it will be fun. In terms of doing things with them afterwards you really don't have too. After 5 hours of an open bar I'm hoping everyone will be to 'happy' to want to do anything else. Plus I'm going to be tired!

kptoys, I should have edited to say that the only time I feel like drinking during the day, aside from a tailgate, is when I'm at the vineyards...I'm sure a Saturday afternoon out east with everyone drinking wine and a beautiful vineyard in the backgroud will be really festive. If you have all your plans set for a Saturday daytime affair, don't change it just b/c some of us think it won't be fun. Everyone's affairs are unique and I think in your situation it would work very well.

KPtoys you know your crowd. My crowd parties no matter what the time. If you have duds they will be duds no matter what the time. Do not second guess yourself. All will be well. Let your hall dim the lights and you will not even know the difference.

Iam having saturday night only because I don't want people to have to take off from work to come to my wedding if I had to choose because of budget I would have chose sunday od a longweekend jus sopeople wouldnt have to leav work early!

I agree with some other people, if your guests can't take off from work they may miss the ceremony, but that doesn't mean they can't still have a blast at the reception!

The vineyard caterers is beautiful! I would think that during the day it would be beautiful-but i guess @ night it's has its own beauty as well! Do what you and FH want!

Do what you can budget for. I wanted so much to have a Sat. night wedding, and was NOT willing to settle for anyplace. So I went with a Friday night, and a lot more people showed up than I expected.

I agree I like evening weddings much better. Ours is on a Friday night, our church isn't til much later in the afternoon so many of our real close friends and family will be there. We also sent out save the dates so guests will know and if they choose to they can take off that day from work or even just leave a little earlier.
