Re: Friday vs. Saturday?

Saturday (whether afternoon or evening) is much better than Friday imho. I don't like having to take off work to get to a wedding!

I prefer Saturday, but that doesn't keep me from attending Friday weddings.

I prefer Sat. I think most people do, especially if they work. I also think you'll have a better turn out at the ceremony if it is not a Fri.

I agree with this on all points. But those who love you will be there whether it's a Friday, Saturday or Tuesday. I'm having a Friday wedding for financial reasons and the only suggestions I've had is to let people know in advance so that they can take the day off from work because it precedes a major holiday. Otherwise, everyone's excited.

I will take this one step further- sometimes it is said that people won't come to the ceremony if you do it Fri. night. My wedding was on a Sunday afternoon and there were plenty of people who STILL didn't make it to the ceremony (I mean, come on, if you can't make it at 3:30 PM on a Sunday, you didn't really want to make it....) The people who are important will be there and those who use Fri. night as an excuse might not come to the ceremony anyway. Do what works best for you and your FH.

Re: Friday vs. Saturday?

I honestly would prefer a Saturday, but ANY day is fine with me!

I was invited to a Fri wedding a few years back, and I COULD have gone to the church (4:30), at the time I worked in Plainview and the church was in Whitestone and I was not THAT close to the B&G so I only went to the reception.

I'm having a Friday night wedding and I haven't asked anyone to take a day off of work. If they really want to be there, they will imho.

Re: Friday vs. Saturday?

I prefer Sat nights, but one of the Best, most fun weddings I ever went to was a Friday night. I did, however, take the day off that Friday, so it was like a Saturday!

Re: Friday vs. Saturday?

anyone that can afford a saturday wedding should have one since it's the most convenient for the vast majority of people. However, if $$ is an issue, Friday is cheaper.

Friday is cheaper and I think regardless of when you have a wedding, people will party even if they just got out of work!!

I originally wanted a Saturday night wedding - but after looking into we went for a Friday night we got so much more for our money!!
And everyone had a great time!!!! Most of our guests were from out of town so most made a vacation out of it

totally agree. Mine is on a Friday. It's cheaper and we have the whole weekend to party then leave for our honeymoon monday

We did it this way too- we were on a budget and not going on our HM right away. We had a low turnout at the church, which was ok, but we had a good turnout at the reception. Since the wedding was Friday, we were able to spend Sat. night on a 'mini-moon' in Manhattan. We took the BP to dinner and a show and then we had Sunday to recuperate. I was happy to get in that extra time with the BP because a few of them were OOT.

Re: Friday vs. Saturday?

We're having aFriday wedding because we're paying for the wedding ourselves and just couldn't affored the Saturday. We're having an 8:00 cocktail hour though so people could take their time getting home from work and getting ready. Like someone posted earlier...people could fee inconvenienced any day of the week. In my opinion if you really want to attend a wedding reception you won't look at any time as an inconvenience because you want to be there for the ones you love.
