Friday Wedding + Reception
Hello everyone, I have a problem I am trying to decide whether I want to plan a wedding date on a Saturday or a friday. I know that traditional weddings are always on Saturday, but it seems that the deposits to reserve that day of the week are very expensive. (4000-8000 deposit) Can anyone help! thanks, Bride
Good Luck!

I reserved my Saturday night reception at the Milleridge for only $200 + $1000 at contract signing. The balance is due 10 days before the event.
How large of a wedding are you planning? What reception locations are you considering?
Good Luck!

Hi Alicia: I am having my wedding on a Friday afternoon at 12pm. The time doesn't matter. I have a 500.00 deposit down on my hall and don't have to pay until 2 weeks before my wedding. I picked a Friday because I saved at least 40.00 per head.

Our wedding is on a Friday evening. We thought of some of the guests having to work and giving them enough time to get there, but not to make it too late, because we're still having the cocktail hour and dinner. I like a Friday night wedding, as it gives you the rest of the weekend, and an extra day before leaving for the honeymoon.
Good Luck!

You can try Satuday afternoon instead of evening. That got us a price break. Also we didn't have to guarantee as many people as they required for the evening.
If the decor is your style, then I think it might be a worthwhile choice.
Friday Wedding + Reception
I am getting married on a Friday evening. The main reason I choose Friday was to save money (we are paying for almost everything ourselves). I could not have afforded the type/size of reception on a Saturday at all -would have had to scale back ALOT. My reception would have been about 50% more on a Saturday (about 55 a head compared to 85 for the same menu!). AND this is for a March wedding, which also scales back the price a little. Sunday weddings are usually cheaper than Sat also, but not quite as much as Friday. It doesnt seem to have posed a problem with my guests, a lot live locally, and the ones who dont would probably have to take a day or two off from work anyway for travel. Your close family and friends usually wont mind taking a day off from work or leaving early for you (if necesary). My suggestion...just let people know early on! Good Luck
Hmmm....I'm sure a nice fruit & cheese platter with a bottle of wine would be nice....if the room has a coffee maker, you could send a nice basket with biscotti, coffee, mugs (with either wedding stuff inscribed or local touristy kinda messages)...a small note from the 2 of you should also be included. The hotel might even be able to pull this together for you.....or...
Since you're in the area, I'd suggest contacting Elegant Eating for suggestions on an arrangment. They used to be in the Waldbaum's shopping Center off Hallock on 347 but have now expanded into a bigger shop on 347 further east (towards Smithtown ont he south side of the road). They have really, really nice stuff & are very creative with their packages. I've used them for work and have received many complements.
