Hey Ladies...2014 Bride here! This week I'm supposed to work on finding my photographer. I want something DIFFERENT, something FUN! I fell in love with George Street, but I feel kinda sketchy about it. They wanted to meet at Panera!? If anyone has ANY information on this vendor please let me know!!
Thanks
!

It's not unusual for vendors to meet you somewhere like that, especially if they don't have a studio. My photog only leased a studio in April of last year, before that he was meeting people out and about.

I was also considering meeting with them. Here's my only issue (besides the one that you brought up, which I guess other photogs do too, but I've never heard of that):I entered into some raffle or something on theknot.com, and it was to win a photography package. Well, apparently, George Street was the company that the package would come from. Ok, I clearly didn't win. But I was contacted over and over and over and over again by a sales rep of theirs. I am already extremely overwhelmed, I get very anxious about most of the wedding planning we've done so far, so I emailed her back and just said that we hadn't found a venue yet, but when we did, when we decided to look for a photographer, we would get in contact with them. Which would have ended it, but then she contacted me at least another 6 times 'just checking in to see how the venue search is going'. I've worked in sales and marketing before, so I know that this is just her way of keeping on top of me, so as soon as I booked a venue, she could get me to come in for a consultation. It was just annoying, to be honest.
I love their work, the portfolio that George Street has speaks for itself. But if I do decide to meet with them, I will ask to meet with someone other than that girl who wouldn't leave me alone. LOL
If you do meet with them, and get a quote, if you could FM me, that would be wonderful!

We met with them and they were by far the lowest priced quote we received. The salesperson showed us two different photog's portfolios and they were very nice, but we didn't like the fact that we couldn't meet or communicate with the photographer. She actually made a point of telling us that all communication would be routed through her, which seemed odd. They are a reputable company and do beautiful work but I didn't get the impression you'd receive a ton of personalized service. Feel free to FM with any other questions, I'll look for the package info they gave me.Side note- The most expensive photographer we met with met us at a Panera too!

I was going to meet with them also, but the stalking got annoying. The were bombarding me with emails which totally turned me off. And thinking about it now, I've never heard of anyone using them on these boards!!

meeting @ panera is NOT weird, we met plenty at starbucks (usually somewhere in the 'middle' as we are 45 mins from our venue and a lot of them were from nassau).what was weird was the guy who gave us an address to meet at and it turned up to be his HOUSE (maybe a studio too but still- residential neighborhood). Ended up calling him and telling him to meet us at starbucks LOL (ps didnt book him)

I don't know how this reply ended up on this thread
but no I am not meeting with them. I read some sketchy reviews about them. Something like you don't know who your photographer is until the day of your wedding??? not sure if its true. But I do have 4 appointments this week with other photographers. I can let you know how they are. I am meeting with JayLim, Silverfox, THomas Paul, and Studio 27

We live in the city and our photographer met us in the city instead of us going to their studio in Brooklyn because it was more convenient for us...which I thought was nice. I guess it depends on why they meet you at coffee shop...is it because they dont have an office or to just make it more convenient for you

Re: George Street Photography
Hello, I've seen a few bad reviews, but also seen a lot of really nice pics! I think the problem is however, that there are loads of photographers who shoot for them all over the US and you don't always really get the highly edited pics you see posted on their website!! One girl posted a review with pics on YELP that you should look at (Paige is her name). I actually paid a deposit only 1 week ago and requested a refund, and they would not give it to me, which is forcing me to still go with them, because the deposit is 50% ($1900). Look at all the reviews and request photos from clients and photographers. Attached is one poor quality photo. But like I said there are lots of good photos as well

I love www.thepros.com. They're very reasonably priced, and they also will allow you to meet their photographers and videographers before booking to see what style/personality you work with best.I'm going to a meet n greet in Union Square on 7/31 at 6:45pm. Does anyone want to come with me to check them out?
I'm getting 8 hrs photo/video, unlimited photos, 40 prints, all raw footage, 3 DVDs with highlight video, 75 pic album, etc for $2300!

I had an appointment booked with George Street for last weekend and I canceled after reading the reviews on Yelp and Wedding Wire. One bride said that it took a whole YEAR to get her pictures and she was told that to get them earlier, she would have to pay an extra $900. Their prces are really good compared to what I've seen but it seems very sketchy.

They contacted me a few times via email as well and I was interested in meeting with them bc the prices are so great. But I didn't like the fact that they weren't located out here (the woman said that their closest photographer was in the city) and they would charge a travel fee to shoot my wedding. Umm why would I pay someone a travel fee when there are plenty of other photo/videographers on the Island? It seemed silly to me. But if you are a budget bride, as I am, def check out Gil from Fade to Black and Capture the Moment!Welcome New Vendors
