FIT has wedding planner/event planner classes. They are not that expensive either.

Thanks. I have other certifications -- I will have to look into the other courses. I find it more to be about experience and networking then classroom knowledge but that is my opinion.

I agree, just saying i know ive seen online classes you can take...i just dont how necessary it is or if an event planning company expects it or not

Not all of them do. It depends some time on just how 'corporate' the company is whether they want you to actually be certified or not. Most of the more creative companies don't require it, internships and experience w/in the company itself or industry, and especially contacts, are more important.

theres a course you can take, i think its 6 weeks long and you get certified.

A girl I work with is certified. It pretty much means you can buy at wholesale. She helps plan weddings and is a birchcraft retailer, she gets a great discount and passes the savings to her clients... of course she makes a little something too but the clients get a big discount from the retail prices.

i've always loved the idea of getting into planning. Even before i got engaged i could not wait to plan ... when my girlfriend got engaged i was SOOO excited cause i got to help..lol. It's def. something i can see myself doing for a living.. helping to make people's big day perfect and gettin paid for it..sounds like a dream job to me
