Re: Girls who did/or are doing 'Hands Ceremony'...Need quick help!!

We did it before our vows. The vows were the last thing we did before our first kiss as man & wife...then we walked back down the aisle together.

This is similar to the handfasting ceremony joe and I had a year and a day before the wedding.

Bonnie, how come we never saw pics of your handfasting?

I am sorry I am such a sucker for that speech. I tear everytime I read it! I want to do that at the church too. I hope they allow it. Does anyone hear of it being a problem that the preist will not do it???

Re: Girls who did/or are doing 'Hands Ceremony'...Need quick help!!

I never heard of this! It's so nice and there is already a space in my cermony where the Pastor said we could choose our own reading. He's very laid back and I think that he wouldn't mind this at all!

The space is after the vows and I'm sure that he'll let us do this before the 'you may kiss the bride' part and I think it works very well there! Great thread!

Re: Girls who did/or are doing 'Hands Ceremony'...Need quick help!!

They did this at my pre-cana session.

Everyone was teary, it was touching for a lot of people. It's a nice ceremony - but a bit much for us.

The ceremony was just bit of overkill for that weekend- we spent the time making faces at each other and trying not to laugh... We didn't do well with the overly sentimental parts of that pre-cana experience.

Will some one explaine what this is????????????????????????????

It is a poem that the officiant reads. It goes like this :

These are the hands of your best friend. Young, strong, and full of love for you, that are holding yours on your wedding day as you promise to love each other today, tomorrow, and forever.
These are the hands that will work along side yours, as together you build your future.
These are the hands that will passionately love you and cherish you through the years, and that with the slightest touch, will comfort you like no other.
These are the hands that will hold you when fear or grief wracks your mind
These are the hands that will, countless times, wipe the tears from your eyes. Tears of sorrow and tears of joy.
These are the hands that will tenderly hold your children.
These are the hands that will help you hold your family as one.
These are the hands that will give you strength when you need it.
And lastly, these are the hands that even when wrinkled and aged will still be reaching for yours, still giving you the same unspoken tenderness with just a touch

Its so beautiful
