I just knew - lol I know that doesn't really help, but it's hard to describe. I didn't want to take it off either!

I'm gonna have to go back a second time for all 3 dresses I liked lol. This is harder than I thought!

I am so indecisive!!! I just looked at the pictures and decided...I didn't 'know' or get a certain feeling, I just picked because if I didn't, I would have gone crazy!

I have a feeling I'm gonna do the same thing! Yet I still don't feel ready to buy! I really want the new lines to come out, but then I'll make it more confusing for myself Urgh!

PS - Ms. Indecisve knows what she's getting but hasn't ordered yet...just in case!!!

You're as bad as I am!

Must be a 'Colleen thing'!

Re: Girls who went dress shopping, how did you know the 'one'?

if it helps, i didnt know either. i didnt cry, i didnt gasp, i didnt know right away. i went back to multiple shops twice and tried on each dress i liked twice. i did have one that kept sticking out in my mind and after trying on over 15 dresses, i went back to see that one and realized it had been it all along. i think you need to see things a 2nd time (some things i had saved on my registrar looked so horrible on the 2nd time - dont know what i was thinking) and also bring someone whos opinion you trust!

Yes thank you. I am going to keep looking. I just am not sure I'm ever gonna get that feeling.

I was CONVINCED I wouldn't have that feeling either but lo and behold 100-ish dresses later and I GOT IT!! I felt like I wanted to wear it forever...go home in it, walk around, go to work hahaha, it was the only dress I could actually imagine myself in on my wedding day without feeling uncomfortable or like a different person altogether. I'm sure you'll get it too...sometimes it takes a while if you are picky but if you have the patience definetly keep looking.

Good Luck!!

And you have to try it on with a veil! You dont get a real picture until you have the whole ensemble going on...

Re: Girls who went dress shopping, how did you know the 'one'?

i actually posted the same exact question and honestly all the girls gave me such good advice, and about a week later I was in saks fifth avenue and fell in love with my amsale gown! i went by myself and thought I really loved it but still wasn't sure but then I kept dreaming and thinking about it that I went back a second time and started getting all teary eyed, that I couldn't wait to bring my parents to see me in it!! I really think its a feeling you will get which will make you know its the one, when you really can't stop thinking about it!

My friend who got married a few years ago told me...be prepared you are going to cry and I totally was like 'yea right' I never cry and I am really not that emotional but for some reason planning our wedding makes me tear up and cry all of the time... I guess thats a good sign

I'm worried about the same thing! I can't make a decision to save my life...I'm worried I won't find 'the one'

That's exactly how i feel. I am so worried that i'll never find 'THE ONE' but a few ladies at bridal salons told me not to freak out if i don't have a huge reaction. a lot of girls don't get that. they like a dress and go back and try it on a few times, and wind up getting it but never had an OMG kind of moment with tears and everything.

Re: Girls who went dress shopping, how did you know the 'one'?

It was the first one I tried on. I would've bought it without trying others on if I could have, because I knew it was 'it.' I just loved the way it looked and felt like I didn't care to see anymore. But, I still tried on 20 more dresses, b/c the lady at Priscilla of Boston was like 'woah' and was clearly nervous about letting me buy the one and only dress that I EVER tried on.

But, if it makes you feel better, I had the exact opposite feeling about reception venues. I looked at about 10 before I was about to cry because I thought I'd never find 'the one.' Then someone on here suggested I return to Land's End b/c it is so beautiful and has a great reputation. I did go back and then I realized, this has every single thing on my list of 'wants and must haves' but I was too flustered to realize it the first time out.

So, if I have any advice, it would be to try to imagine what your perfect dress looks like in your mind and maybe make a list of things you want or don't want it to have. Then go back to the store and try on your top few dresses one immediately after the other and just see what has the most of your 'ideal' qualities and in which you feel the best in! Easier said than done, but you CAN do it!

Re: Girls who went dress shopping, how did you know the 'one'?

okay - i am the ULTIMATE indecisive woman. FH always makes fun of me and forces me to make decisions. i went to a few shops and tried on all different dresses. i liked a bunch but of course, couldn't decide which was best. SO i brought my sister back with me and i tried on all the ones i liked for her, and she basically told me which one looked best on me, and i got that one.

she actually ended up picking the one i was leaning toward, so it was more like she was confirming what i already knew.

i DEFINITELY recommend bringing a friend whose opinion you trust completely, and just try things on for them and have them be completely honest.

i ended up with Maggie Sottero's 'En Vogue' - check out my album!

Re: Girls who went dress shopping, how did you know the 'one'?

I am a Libra also. I tried on a million and hated all of them. Well not hated but was just like next. Until the lady helping me at Carmela's Bridal Garden pulled out this dress. I was thinking eww no I don't like it. She insisted I put it on. So in my head I was like ok why not try on another dress I probably won't like. I will just tell her no it isn't for me. So I put it on and I just fell in love. It took my breath away and it did with my mom, MOH, grandma and aunt. I knew it was the one. I just had to have it. It made all the others I tried on look like crap.

Re: Girls who went dress shopping, how did you know the 'one'?

i didn't think i would get 'that feeling' because i thought i'd only love something that was way out of my range. also didn't know what style to get...i asked if the store could bring in these 2 dresses i saw on a website because they looked ok... they didn't have it at first because they forgot my request and brought out some weird curtain-like dresses which strangely made me want them to bring the other dresses in more... found out the more affordable yet prettier one was discontinued and at this point i REALLY wanted to see it... they got a sample for me which i unexpectedly LOVED and the designer agree to make it for me. it's true, you won't want to take it off....can't wait for it to come in in my size for my fitting!!!

don't worry, you'll find it...
