Re: Girls with daytime weddings??

I'm having a sunday 'afternoon' wedding ceremony starts at 11:30am.

I'm hoping to find a salon that would open early and can do hair and make up at the same time. My MOH is helping me with this, since we lives in LI.

We're getting a hotel room and hopefully all my friends will hangout there.

Is anyone using a salon and can give a good referal for hair and makeup. Having someone come to me is so expensive, I'm hoping to cut costs by going to a salon.

Re: Girls with daytime weddings??

1. What time are you all getting up for hair make-up? crack of dawn??

My ceremony is at 1. I will probably get hair done at 7:30-8, makeup at 9 so I am done by 10.

2. When are you taking your pictures? before ceremony or after?

We are taking our pics at 11:30 at the RH. I want to be at my cocktail hour and since I am getting married at my RH, my cocktail hour starts as soon as my ceremony's done so there is no time in between for pics.

3. My biggest concern... are you going to keep the party going after the reception??

We are inviting everyone to a bar afterwards - but we aren't paying :) I have been to many weddings where it's just a pay-as-you-go thing, and no one minded. So that is what we are doing.

HTH!

Re: Girls with daytime weddings??

I am so glad you posted this! My church is at 11 and RH at 12:30-6. I THINK we are going to do hair/makeup at 7. Not doing pics before bc my photograper does posed pics for 30 min and the rest are candid. We blocked rooms at a hotel where we are having an afterparty at the hotel.

Re: Girls with daytime weddings??

I'm so glad you asked these questions! Because this has all been on the brain lately. My ceremony @ the church starts at 11am and my receptions starts @ 12:45-5:45pm . So I'm also trying to figure out when I will be getting started. How stressful!

Re: Girls with daytime weddings??

I had a daytime wedding in October with a similar time frame as yours (ceremony beginning at 11am)

Here is how we did things (answering your ?'s):

1. What time are you all getting up for hair make-up?
We started at about 5:30 am for hair and makeup. Their were 4 of us getting done up.

2. When are you taking your pictures? before ceremony or after?
We did pics before and after the ceremony. I only did pictures with the bridal party and my family before the ceremony, with no groom. We did the rest of our pictures after the ceremony and we still made it to part of the cocktail hour.

3. My biggest concern... are you going to keep the party going after the reception??
We booked our hotel and a lot of our guest stayed at the Glen Cove Mansion which has an awesome bar upstairs with billards, foosball and all kinds of games. I was a really great impromptu afterparty! We didn't announce that we were going there before the wedding took place...our bridal party kinda just told everyone where we were going after and people came....CASH BAR! everyone paid for their own drinks. There is no reason for you to pay after the reception is over.....i don't think.

Good Luck and Happy Planning

Re: Girls with daytime weddings??

My cousin had a daytime wedding a few years ago. Afterwards we went home and changed and most of the family (we were all there in from OOT) went out to a bar and just hung out. It was a good time. We played darts and pool

Hi date twin!

I'm glad this post is helping! I'm waiting for the day when I have my act together and can actually help others instead of always asking questions

oops also didn't realize this went on to a second page.

Thanks for all the help! This is great to know and will definitely guide me in my planning!!!
