A good dicitonary and an MLA Guide.

I also find 'research papers for dummies' was a good resource when I was feeling stuck on a paper. It really breaks it down

or APA. I only wrote a handful of paper's in MLA, most were in APA.

I'm an engineer, I'll give you some school related stuff I always used (you can get most of it at Staples or somewhere like that)
mechanical pencils
mechanical 'clic' erasers
Engineering scale
Small ruler
pocket stapler
Engineering pad (it's pale green)
Scientific or graphing calculator
burnable CDs or zip disks for the computer
graph paper

I'm an engineer, I'll give you some school related stuff I always used (you can get most of it at Staples or somewhere like that)

can i ask what you do now?

I would hold off on a calculator--in my calc. classes they always required specific models (I was the old school TI-83)...

Most of mine were APA also, Get a book w/ multiple guides!
