Re: Hey, can I ask a favor? =) (Poll)

My FH went with to ONE! Okeah and that is when we first got engaged and didnt know better. He loved okeah, I guess it just felt bad we couldn't afford it. Now I do the looking, he said he would come when we pay for the down payment.

Re: Hey, can I ask a favor? =) (Poll)

my fh came with me to look (at all 2!!) my circumstances are a bit different: he had 8 years of experience in 'the bridal business' and has been to just about every hall on LI. His big thing was that he's been in every kitchen and he only wanted a place that was super clean. We also wanted some place close to Queens so we narrowed it down to a handful, looked at 2 and fell in love. We stopped looking once we found our hall...

He looked at almost half with me; then school got hectic and I made the final decision.

Re: Hey, can I ask a favor? =) (Poll)

FH only went to the one I ended up liking the most. I looked at a bunch but wanted to narrow it down and bring him to the 1 or 2 finalists on the list. After he saw Country Gardens, he didn't even want to see our second choice. I did the hall prospecting voluntarily.

My FH went to every hall with me! He was the one that asked the majority of the questions plus he was best at negiotating the final number!

I made the appointments, he came with me. We discussed the pros/cons after each. He didn't want to go again to book it with my parents but I'm glad I made him.

He came to all the halls with me, then we ranked the halls (separately), compared our lists and picked our hall! (#1 on both our lists )

Re: Hey, can I ask a favor? =) (Poll)

Since we've been to a bunch of weddings - we already knew what places we weren't willing to consider. There were a few others that I hadn't been to yet - so I checked them out (mostly by myself, but also with my mom) - - - then bought FI to the Crescent Club for his final 'sign off'.

Re: Hey, can I ask a favor? =) (Poll)

It looks like I am with most of the ladies who replied. Mom and I went looking, and then brought dad and FH back to look at the Top 2. Leslie is right, be careful what you wish for, b/c my dad and FH didn't like one of my top two choices, and I was so upset!

Here are my favorite places in Suffolk:

Lands End - on the water in Sayville.
Timber Point CC - also on the water, just didn't like the way room was set up.
Majestic Gardens - huge!
Hamlet Golf and CC - LOVED, FH and Dad weren't crazy about this place.
East Wind - I will admit that EW wasn't my favorite place, but it had everything I was looking for, plus you can chose from so many different rooms there between the Inn, the Estate and Country Gardens.
I also heard great things about Flowerfields.

GOOD LUCK!

Re: Hey, can I ask a favor? =) (Poll)

My sister looked at my hall for me since I live in NC. I trusted her judgement, she knew what I wanted and she had just gotten married herself so she knew what to ask (thanks Mel !!)

Re: Hey, can I ask a favor? =) (Poll)

He actually went to the hall without me (he lives in LI, I am in NYC), got the quote, all the details etc etc. Then I went with him the next day, gave my thumbs up. He went back the next day and signed the contract.

We only looked at one hall other than WM.

Re: Hey, can I ask a favor? =) (Poll)

We each picked 3 places to see (from some location books and from recommendations).

We went to all of them and decided together which one we liked best, but the final say was totally me. He wanted me to be happy.

Re: Hey, can I ask a favor? =) (Poll)

Since I literally have nothing to do at work all day ( ) I researched halls and narrowed it down by decor, minimum guarantee, and location. I then showed him photos online, and we narrowed it down from there. We checked out every hall together - it's OUR wedding, not my mother's and mine, not my best friend's and mine - so I would never go to check out a hall if he couldn't make it.

He has come to every appointment with every hall, vendor, etc. and he will continue to do so. Every time we ran into other people checking out halls and vendors, usually it was the bride to be and her mother or a sister or friend. He was amazed that the grooms to be wouldn't want to be involved or even interested in going to these places.

Re: Hey, can I ask a favor? =) (Poll)

I looked at 30+ halls alone or w/ my BM. I narrowed it down to 3 and he looked at those and decided which we should go with.
