I did the HM registry through my travel agent, and registered for gifts - that way no one felt pressured to donate to my honeymoon. I guess my family is more practical b/c everyone really seems to like the idea that they can give us a round of golf or massages during our honeymoon. It really makes them feel like they are contributing to improving our honeymoon. I don't really see the controversy, I know, as a gift-giver, I'd feel great about contributing to a honeymoon, but not so great about handing a woman mixing bowls or something no so exciting.

By coordinating it through my travel agent, we avoiding paying fees that other HM registries charge.

we didnt do this, but I think its a good idea especially if you dont want a ton of household items at your shower either.

Thanks for all the input. It's funny - I thought it was a pretty good idea but when my parents in the midwest thought it sounded tacky... I really started to rethink it, considering that people around here are probably 10 times more, um, 'opinionated.'
