South Beach plus exercise will do the trick.

Re: How did you lose weight for the big day (if you did that is)
my motivation-when I put on my gown... and it was SNUG and then right after that fiasco my mother dragged me to go bathingsuit shopping for an upcoming trip she's going on... and well....That was it.
That next day I cut my carbs (only 2 bowls of cereal a week- instead of 7) replaced my snacks with fruit, eat more oatmeal for breakfast instead of cereal and waffles, swore off all regular iced tea/soda to diet, drink tons of water, STOPPED eating out and count my WW points.
I started on Jan 10, and now 1 month later I've dropped 10 pounds!

Re: How did you lose weight for the big day (if you did that is)
I am counting my calories. I keep a journal and add up the calories of everything I eat. It's good b/c by the time I leave work each night, I know exactly how many calories I have left over to eat...I am trying to keep it around 1200 and at least under 1500 each day.Plus, I am going to the gym 3-4 times a week.
Exactly 4 months to go until the big day - that is enough motivation for me!!!

Re: How did you lose weight for the big day (if you did that is)
To lose weight you need to cut calories. You don't necessarily need to cut carbs. If your intake of calories is lower, and you use up more by exercising, you WILL lose weight. Carb cutting weight generally comes back once you go off that diet.Don't go on a diet, make a life style change for good. It's very hard to do. But once you start eating less, over time you'll be more satisified by less food. Exercising is really the key to the kingdom so to speak. You bust your asss in the gym and you will see results.

You can give yourself a day off from strict eating. Like take 1 day a week where you will eat your sundae. But keep it to 1, sort of a reward. If you make the program too hard for yourself, you won't stick with it.
And those sundaes are REALLY good.

I totally gained, and thank goodness I had a corset back A-line dress, otherwise it would have shown something awful. The only place you can sort of tell is in my arms. UGH

Re: How did you lose weight for the big day (if you did that is)
I lost 30 in 1 year and lost a significant amount of body fat (24% before, 18% now) so it looks like more than that...No easy way for me - eat healthy (I used fitday.com to figure out the major pitfalls) and exercise. Exercise includes weight training. Honestly, I am much happier with a good am workout almost every day.
Here's motivation: I took a picutre of myself in a bikini when I already lost 20 lbs. I got very upset and then got really serious about my health. I also keep a picture of me at my highest weight as a deterrent on my dresser. I took another bikini pic recently and you can really see a difference with just 10 lbs.
Feeling better and endless energy is also motivation!

Oh and for motivation..
I keep that image of me struggling to attempt to pull it over my hips and being forced to give up. Everytime I get hungry I think about my dress. Flabby arms and and rolls of fat at my mid section. Yes, Im cruel to myself, but I do eat, just wiser now.
That is DEFINITELY my motivation, too! I know how self concious I am when I'm not at my 'good weight' and I just will feel miserable on my wedding day if I'm not where I want to be.
Everytime I reach for something bad to eat, or think that I'm 'too tired' to hit the gym, I think about my beautiful gown, and the clothes I want to wear on my HM, and it puts me right back in my place!!!
It sure ain't easy, though ....

i've been trying to lose weight all olong, working out a couple of times a week, trying to watch what i eat.....but it wasn't really working because i wasn't really really serious about it - so recently, once i realized that my wedding is less than 2 months away - i decided to cut out dessert....and so far this week, it seems to be working. i haven't eaten dessert all week and i've been losing weight!![]()
sounds like me.. i was on weight watchers but i wasnt really serious so it wasnt working for me..
i think my wedding being close is going to get me to cut out stuff more..

Re: How did you lose weight for the big day (if you did that is)
Eat more fiber rich foods, veggies, fruitDrink lots of water
Decrease the amount of carbs
Eat your heavier meal at lunch or don't eat too late
Less sweet stuff
Exercise
I think Mr. Hostility said it best don't diet, make a lifestyle change. Don't deprive yourself of stuff that's considered 'bad' for you. When you deprive yourself, people tend to binge bc they haven't had it. It's all about moderation.
Read the labels when you go shopping.
Natural ovens makes a great lo-carb bread with 5 g of fiber
Try wheat pasta
Put veggies in everything
If you drink milk try wheening (sp??) yourself to skim milk.

Re: How did you lose weight for the big day (if you did that is)
Try Body for Life if you want a lifestyle change. It's a book. I was on that for over a year, it really worked for me. www.bodyforlife.com - then i got tired.
Now I'm doing 'Power of Ten' - another book that advocates slow motion weight training, once a week, 20 - 30 minutes or so. FI, who wasn't fat to begin with, has lost 20 pounds on it in like 6 months, and his strength has increased considerably. He doesn't do any cardio. I've lost 7-8 in the last 4 weeks, not bad considering (1) how slowly I lose weight and 2) I'm not doing any cardio except for maybe once a week interval training for 20 minutes on my elliptical trainer. This fits into my lifestyle a lot better than BFL.
Cut white sugar! White bread etc. Only whole grain things. Drink more water, etc, etc. Try to eat small meals over the course of the day.

Re: How did you lose weight for the big day (if you did that is)
I drank like 2 gallons of water a day. I had a small breakfast (like fruit salad or a bowl of cereal), a heavier lunch (turkey sandwich etc), if I wanted a snack it was fruit or pretzels and light dinner (grilled chicken and salad). Never eat after 8pm. Def go to a gym

Re: How did you lose weight for the big day (if you did that is)
I have so much time, but I'm on a constant diet. Mon=Wed=Friday I go to the gym twice a day, Tues/Thurs/Sunday I go once, Saturday I only get to exercise for a short time and at home. I watch calories, sugar and basically everything. But I also want to get my Personal Training Certification so I am a bit extreme. I do need to lose about ten pounds before our wedding.
