Re: HOW MANY MOMMIES KNEW THE SEX OF THE BABY?

Claud and ELizabeth,
Both of your words tug at my heart strings, about

'it is still the most beautiful and overwhelmingly powerful experience for the parents' and about the tears that come flooding out. I couldnt breathe from the crying and I could only see him blurry through my tears...It was the most amazing experience in the world...

Although, I didnt know, even if you do know, like Claud said, it will NOT Take away fromthat moment that you see this little person, your own flesh and bones, screaming and crying and looking for YOU...

I dont think we'll find out with future pregnancies either, but again, itss a decision that everyone makes on their own. As far as the nursery, I just waited till he was born to do his room ! and that was my own choice. IM sure I would have goten sick of a yellow or green room, and then again you can tailor yellow and green to boy or girl...But just love those BLUEESSSS and trucks, and sports....
maybe next will be the butterflies and lavendars..

Re: HOW MANY MOMMIES KNEW THE SEX OF THE BABY?

Your stories are amazing--I am tearing up right now--
as for me and Dh we don't want to know-- partially for the excitement part-- for many of my nieces we knew--but I have a funny story on this topic--
On my side we have 7 nieces and DH had one niece--so after 8 nieces we really wanted a nephew--so DH's brothers wife gets pregnant and they dont find out what it is--so one morning in May the phone rings early in the am(DH already left for work) and I see his # on caller ID so immediately I think something is wrong--so he goes She had the baby and I of course scream and go what was it and he hesitates and goes a and I was like OH--now of course I was happy but really wanted a nephew-- so we get off the phone and I am just lying there thinking about seeing her and the baby, etc--- 8 minutes later phone rings and it is DH--and guess what he says--oh BTW it's a and I'm like WHAT???!!!!! He never listened when his Dad told him it was a boy!!! MEN!!!!
It has now become the big joke---but I am so glad we didnt know ahead of time--although of course we would have been happy either way!!!

Re: HOW MANY MOMMIES KNEW THE SEX OF THE BABY?

DH and I found out the sex a few weeks ago. We are impatient, I guess!!

Similar to Claud's old situation... I also live far away from my family. I found out the sex while I was home on LI (during the holidays). It was nice to be able to share the news in person with our families.

Now, everyone knows what I'm having, but we are keeping the name a secret. I don't think anyone will be less excited just because they already know I'm having a girl!!

Melissa

Re: HOW MANY MOMMIES KNEW THE SEX OF THE BABY?

I think either way.. the excitement when you give birth is all the same.
We wanted to be surprised for my son.. although somehow we KNEW that we were having a boy. I dont know how I knew.. I just had that feeling.
Everything we bought was unisex though just incase.
Next time, I definitly want to know. I want to experience the whole pregnancy differantly. I want to be able to buy either Boys stuff or Girls stuff.. I want to be able to decorate a room knowing WHO is going in it... I want to be able to call the baby by its name...and tell my son whether he is having a baby sisiter or brother....there are just so many things I feel I didnt get to do not knowing.
Its just a personal choice..
The happiness when my son was born was just that.. he was born.. the fact that they told me it was a boy didnt really add to anything.
I just felt so blessed at that moment

Re: HOW MANY MOMMIES KNEW THE SEX OF THE BABY?

well... I started out not wanting to know...and Rob didn't mind either way...

Then we had the amino...for various reasons besides just being 35... I have no personal medical history...& felt it was better to know about any defects I could ahead of time so I could educate myself and prepare.

well w/ amino they r 100% sure of gender. At that appt the dr and tech knew & asked us if we wanted to know. I asked Rob said it was my decision.
I wavered the said yes, They told us...and I just kinda froze.
A few min later I began to feel like I should not have asked...but ANYWAY......

we were no LESS excited than all other parents out there when Julianne finally decided to come into the world!(2 wks late!)
We still cried tears of joy!!!
