Re: How much credit card debt are you in?
We also have zero credit card debt. When I was younger, I knew a lot of girls who were in $30k debt. And this was because of shopping not school loans.
I would not be able to sleep if I owed that much money.

Re: How much credit card debt are you in?
Under $500 - most of that is from work expenses, but I get reimbursed really quickly for it.

none- DH and I dont carry a balance on our credit cards. It is completely paid off every month.
This is how it is for both of us now. FH was never good with money until I started taking care of the bills.

I am a financial planner and find that in the tri-state area, the average credit card debt per family is about $15,000.

Re: How much credit card debt are you in?
I have to say I would have as much debt as I do if I didn't live in the city when I made $35K a year- and worked for bloomingdales and got 40% every 3 weeks!but I have NO student loans
I think it's great that so many of you don't have any debt- I try to discourge younger people I know not to do what I did
this will be the second time I have to paid off $10K debt- the last time a got stuck with bills after I loved with some one - I didn't learn my lesson the first time- shame on me

ditto, I refuse to pay interest to my CC companies! So even if it means taking a lil more than planned out of our savings - we do it.

Its also relative. One may have 15k in credit card debt but have the finances to pay in off in a few months if even that long. Sometimes people start businesses using credit cards.

I can't decide what's worse- going in to debt like I did to buy clothes and high lights for my hair
or being in debt b/c you are buying groceries and gas for your car
I guess I am the foolish one b/c I had a choice- but a lot has to do with the way I rasied- I was VERY spolied and never told no- so once my parents pulled the plug- I didn't want to stop living the way I was used to
even though it's annoying to have to pay off these bills now- I am so happy I lived in the City for 2 years- even though I really couldn't afford it at the time- it was a great experince
I have learned my lesson this time- I am lucky that I can pay more then the minium payments each month- and it hasn't affected my credit - except to make it stronger- but not everyone is so lucky

i have about 7K. i just did a balance transfer so i will have 0% interest until january 2007. i did this last year for a balance of 5K and paid it off in 5 months. i am living at my parents now, so my bills are low and i plan on having it all paid off by july.

Re: How much credit card debt are you in?
NONE! I pay my off each month and DH only leaves a couple of hundred on his to increase his credit score. Believe it or not, his is higher due to his having a small balance that he pays off over time.

Jake- my DH and a credit expert- mortgage banker told me they don't like it when you pay in full- it better to carry a balance- another crazy thing that doesn't make sense
that's why my score is as high as it is- I always a have balance, pay more then the minium
everyone wants to give me credit- it's annoying

Re: How much credit card debt are you in?
Wow - I am sincerely proud of you girls. Most of you have ZERO credit card debt
And the ones that do only carry a balance to keep your scores up. Can you teach the rest of our country how to do this?

Same for us. I used to carry a $5K debt but I got myself out of it and I will never go back there!

Can anyone explain why someone who has credit card debt, even if it's only a few hundred $, would have a higher credit score than someone else who always pays their bills on time and has never had any debt? That seems strange to me, but I don't really know how credit/loan system works.
