I used to do it regularly and then had an awful painful experience and my arm was all kinds of colors for a couple of weeks.
After a year I finally did it again and all was normal. So I will be back to being a regular donor.

I donate as often as I can. I have had a few bad experiences because I don't have great veins and they always have a hard time.

My Mom had major complications for a c-section with my brother and needed 23 pints of blood!! (she was profusely bleeding and for a little bit they weren't sure if she was going to make it) and recently she had surgery and needed 5 transfusions. So, they way I look at it is that if other people didn't donate my Mom wouldn't be here. It is the least I can do to hopefully help another family in some way.


PS I would LOVE to be ablt to say that I don't way enough!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am a card carrying member of the 'Gallon Club' but I could not donate until one year after my last piercing. I am just about due to donate now!

me neither - I'm so squeamish! I feel awful about it. I signed up to donate when my HS was having a blood drive, but I psyched myself out so that I felt nauseous and lightheaded, so I didn't do it. I should really try again.

I would but I don't think they'd take me just on the basis of how pale I am. When I was in the hospital they wouldn't let me go home b/c i was so pale, and thn my mom told them I always look like that. Also, I have chronic EBV, someone told me you can't give blood.

I donate every 6 months. I was going to donate platelets but was not feeling well. I have to reschedule my appt for that.

I do donate but not as often as a should!! I'm 0 neg. which they always need

I donated once. I recently thought of donating again but only if they can put the needle in my hand and not my arm.

I have tried on numerous times and they have trouble finding my veins so I won't let myself be a human pin cushion. I once had a nurse poke me 6 times to find my vein and finally called the doctor who stuck the needle in and fished around until he found the vein. Unless I am dying or a loved one needs my blood, I will not do that again!

I used to do it more, but like someone else said, it's hard to find a place and time that works for me. I think the last time gave blood was Labor Day 2001. I see signs occasionally and plan on doing it but forget, and was even going to when I was at the mall the other week, but then it got too late and we had to go.

I used to not weigh enough and then when I did I was anemic. They had a blood drive at my old job and I was finally ok to donate. BIG MISTAKE!!! I got so dizzy they made me lie down for like an hour and I felt sick and had dizzy spells for days.
I wish it was an easy process for me, because my mom had a hysterectomy years ago and recieved quite a bit of blood through a transfusion. I feel like I should 'give back' but the fact of the matter is it made me too sick.
