When I first started to read this I was very annoyed at your Aunt because I know how some pushy people can be. I thought it was nervy of her to ask you to move your wedding day.But in thinking it through while I am annoyed at the situation of your uncle wanting to host a party for your aunt I think he is just thinking of how nice it would be that all of your family can join in your aunts birthday party since they will be here. As far as people being hung over... Is your family big party people with the drinking. Are your aunts peers over indulgent? Maybe your uncle will be considerate enough to have an afternoon party.
In the end the real reason these people will be here is for you and your wedding. Trust they will be mature enough to be ready for your reception. The aunts party is just a bonus gathering.

Dh's family planned a bridal shower the day after my wedding for the same reason- because everyone would be here for our day.It annoyed me at first, but then I thought how nice it would be for her have everyone there, and how no one would be able to come otherwise.

O I would be pissed too. She is just being a brat at his point. Hving someone move their wedding for you is a wonderful gesture and she and your uncle need to be a bit more concerned with your feelings at this point. Some people I tell you, like my mother says, you give them an inch and they will take a yard

What bothers me, is that she had the nerve to ask you to move your WEDDING DATE...how dare her....!!! And after all that, isn't going to celebrate her birthday that day , but the week before ? Goodness... It seems like she has nerve....I wouldn't even waste my time on her....concentrate on your wedding and how beautiful it will be. And how important you are to all your out of town guests, since they are obviously willing to travel for you and maybe not this lady...

Sounds like she is 50 going on 5. What 50 year old person asks someone to move their wedding date? I could see maybe a teenager being that selfish, but not an adult !! I am sorry. Some people have nerve.

I would be pissed too!! Are most your guest from Florida? Because if it is only a teeney percentage try not to worry so much about it. If your family gets hungover, then it's their problem. But, I would definetly be annoyed. Sorry Friend!

Wow that is messed up! She asked you to change the date of your wedding and then has a party a week before anyway? What was the point of changing it in the first place? That is very rude. A 50th Bday is a milestone..but birthdays are every year! A wedding is a one time thing (*hopefuly*
) Would it be too much trouble to change it back to the 14th again? Valentines day is such a cute day!

I dunno - when I was 11 my Uncle got married two days before my birthday. My other Uncle got married a week before my High School graduation (and missed it because he was on his honeymoon).
I didn't ask either of them to change their dates. Even when we were worried about my graduation being the same weekend as the wedding. It was just something we dealt with.
And I was a pretty immature kid.
Heck, I'm still pretty immature. :-P
Your Aunt should grow up. You have my sympathy.

I give you alot of credit to take your Aunt's b'day into consideration. However, this is YOUR day not hers and it was very nervy of her to even ask that of you.Let me try to explain a situation that I'm banging heads with my son about for his wedding:
He will be married on July 4th, (ok thats their date) HOWEVER, the wedding ceremony will take place at 8:30pm, they are having a sunset wedding. I'm sure this will be beautiful and god only knows that I don't want to burst their bubbling plans, but my arguement is there is on consideration for their out of town guests. I've tried to explain the incovience for our family and friends traveling 5 hours, on a Sunday and being a holiday. I've shut my mouth because I was killing myself to let them see the light.
I guess the point I'm trying to get at is 'this is your day, and nothing should get in your way of your plans'....
If you have to start accommidating others, pleasing others, they will take advantage of you.
