I'm not doing the unity candle either. No idea what it is all about either... ok I guess unity... But I think the ceremony at the church will be fine without it.

We're not doing the Unity Candle, sand, or anything else that's thought of.

We just want the whole ceremony part over as quickly as possible. Mostly cause we're married and just want the party to start. LOL

But really my family would think it very cliche (sp) and his family would think it's just my family being weird. Its an extra worry (what to get, where to put it, how to light it, bring matches, lighter, whatever)

Nah.. aint doing it.

I get it, but I just don't want to do it. I understand the purpose of it, but I've only really seen people do it in a church and we are getting married in the hall. I think it will look ridiculous to light one in the freaking hall. Am I looking into it too much?

I am getting married in a church and I am not doing it either - its just something extra I cant afford and furthermore I think its fairly new so no one in my family would miss it.

A note to those who are doing the unity candle: I was at a wedding last week and the unity candle wouldn't light. The wick was buried in the candle, or something, and it wouldn't light! Just something to look out for...

I'm not doing it, there is nothing wrong with not having the unity candle or anything extra like that, it's all personal choices.

I've only been to 2 weddings that had it.
One was in 1992 & it was the first time I was in a Methodist church, so I thought it was just a Methodist, or at least a protestant thing.
Then in 2001 my friend had it in a Catholic ceremony, but no one in either of our families has mentioned it, and neither has the preist, so I plan to skip it.
I don't want to be messing with fire & wax and all.

that another thing... my wedding will (hopefully) be outside. I don't want to have to worry about it not lighting or blowing out.

We're not doing one and we're getting married in the church. Our priest also saw no need for it.
