Re: I'm New and I'm Very Sad
Hello & welcome to the boards.I understand what your saying but I don't understand why your saying. You say you don't like it when brides here rip into each other & then you rip into everyone on the site?
These boards are tools for planning your wedding, so of course people on these boards are wrapped up in it, I am. That does not mean that I am only getting married for the wedding & that is a harsh judgement to pass on people you have never met. Just because we read each others posts doesn't mean we know each other.
As far as people fighting, if it bothers you ignore it, I do(well except for this, but I am NOT trying to fight just expressing my opinion). I should also say I appreciate it when someone posts about there good or bad experiences with vendors because this is were I come to plan & those posts do help me plan.
I hope you appreciate all the wonderful things about this site. And overall I find ALL the brides on here to be helpful & sweet. This is a wonderful time in our lives & its great to have a place to come to where there are so many others going through what I am.
Good luck in your future & happy planning.

Re: I'm New and I'm Very Sad
hmmm, it seems that only people who are nice to you have class, that's interesting. Had you not attacked us right off of the bat (if you disagree with our so called catty-ness, why jump right in with the same thing?) you wouldn't have gotten any negative responses. Maybe you just should have waited until you actually did get engaged (resisting to make any get a life comments back to you here) before you came on a wedding board. Then you could have listened to what everyone has to say after having the knowlege first hand what it is like to try and plan a wedding. I wish you luck. And if you'd like to re post something a little less offensive and start again on a new foot, I'm sure we would all be happy.

Re: I'm New and I'm Very Sad
Well I am on here all the time but with very few comments and I have found the board to be a GREAT help in wedding planning that the reason why I didnt ask so many questions is b/c someone else had allready asked and replyed to it. But now I feel the need to respond. Planning a wedding is stressful and the world around us is stressful. Seems like everyday their isnt any good news and its depressing. Before 911 I used to watch Jerry Springer so that I can remind myself that yes someone else out there has it worse and then I question myself - Is it really that bad? 9 out of 10 times its not. I think what chrissy is trying to say is that yes some of us have been quote on quote mean to eachother and vendors- yes its our important day and I would hate for anything bad to happen but we are All still human. Mistakes will happen just make the best of it. And Chrissy makes a good point- did we fully read what she had to say or did we only read what WE wanted to read and jump to the negative of conversation rather than positive. That is a biggie in relationships and just in everyday living. she makes a good point guys- read beyond what her post says and you will see it as not a threat but constructive critiscism. sometimes when someone tells you to get a life it doesnt mean its a bad thing either- it should enlighten you, step back and get you out of the rut that is making you respond negatively or make you feel threatened. Plain and simple the world doesnt revolve around just us as we make it seem on this board sometimes. But I still love this board and just confirms why we are from venus. Woman will be woman lol.

Re: I'm New and I'm Very Sad
i guess i kind of agree a little with what chrissy said and i think some people really didn't read her post and try to understand it. instead you read what you wanted to (shallow) and attacked her for it. maybe if more people took the time to see her perspective there wouldn't be so much 'drama' on the board. it's interesting to me that the people who jumped all over her first are the same people that jump on just about every newbie. i'm not trying to make enemies here but i think some people are just a little too wrapped up in what goes on here and take everything personally. it's just a message board after all :)

Re: I'm New and I'm Very Sad
hey...if usually reasonable people didn't bcome 'bridezillas' when planning their weddings, FOX wouldn't have invested the money to make their mockery of us and the american people wouldn't have watched it...
its something you just have to get used to...
I hope no one takes this the wrong way, but I find it a little exciting when there is some controversy...as long as I am not involved

Re: I'm New and I'm Very Sad
I think maybe the original post was written in a very emotional state, not always the best time to introduce yourself! I agree that sometimes brides can get preoccupied with planning their weddings, and appear to an outsider as being shallow and petty, etc. HOWEVER, I have to say that the original post was quite inflamatory, as was the later post implying that anyone who found the original post rude must be in in a dysfunctional relationship. Unbelievable! Chrissy, if you are serious about what you wrote, you should resist the urge to join in the nastiness. Otherwise you are just trolling.

Re: I'm New and I'm Very Sad
Hi Chrissy- Welcome to the boards... I do realize that sometimes we can collectively look a little shallow maybe in our postings but I really would ask you respectfully to reserve your judgement on us until you meet us... Please...When you meet us, you will see that we all work hard jobs for a living (one girl I know well that posts works in the pediatric AIDS unit of a nyc hospital- that can't be very shallow), most of us have college degrees, and some are even going on for advanced degrees.... Most of us are paying for our own weddings- have scrimped and saved for the big day (we are not little princesses).... Some of the girls on here have lost one or both sets of parents and are planning a wedding virtually alone....
But whatever backgrounds we have- all of us come on here just to blow off some steam after a hectic day. To all of us, posting on these boards is a mere hobby- some free planning help, a helping hand- whatever you want to call it.... I love it and I've made some wonderful deep friends. I wish the same for you...

Re: I'm New and I'm Very Sad
I tend to stay away from all the NWR threads. All I want to say is, Chrissy, you are not engaged yet. Rest assured that when the wonderful days comes you will realized just how much time and energy the planning will take. We are all a bit stressed over the planning - this is a very emotional time for all of us - good and bad. We all blow off steam in different manners. Name calling should not be one of them. The point being - we all understand that about each other, that is why this is a board for brides to chat with one another.....about weddings.
I think we all need to cool off. Yes, what happend this weekend was horrible, it breaks my heart to read about the families left behind and the extraordinary individuals that we have lost. If you wanted to start a post that read 'I am so sad about the Columbia....' that would most likely have been a nice introduction to the boards.
