I asked my friend about that (except it was two months apart). We were in each others bridal parties and I was saving for my wedding and was stressing about all of the expenses. Instead of backing out of her bridal party we agreed not to give each other gifts... we basically would have just given the same thing anyway and at the time, the extra money was needed in our bank account!!

With that logic - she should give you a really large gift!!!

That way you both look generous, and it won't cost either of you a dime!!!

Me and my friend aren't exchanging gifts. She's getting married a month before me.

We have a friends wedding 2 months before and one 1 week before.

We asked the couple who are 2 months before if its ok that we just call it even instead of swapping checks.

I am also going to ask the couple who is one week before the same thing.

I think everyone understands. And if you give them a check, they are just going to give you a check for the same amount back. why bother???

This is something to really think about ... I never really thought about that and my FH's best friend is getting married a month before us.. i guess I will leave it up to them to decide. I would say if you are really close then just make an aggrement not to exchange gifts..just cards...

Well you are actually making out on the deal because you'll have the money for a month and get the interest on that money for the month until you give it back to them as a gift
