I wore a long red dress to a black tie function and would have no problem wearing that same red dress to a wedding. It was not a fire engine red, more of a subdued red. It was also a long elegant cut - a high back and front with no plunging neckline (Ralph Lauren). It was a kind of like a tank top look put more pinched at the top than straps. I think it is how you present yourself in red. If you go for a red cocktail dress then I'd say no. But if you go for elegance then I think it is fine. I did not wear red lipstick or nail polish.
