INVITATION FIASCO--PLEASE READ REVIEWS AND BELIEVE THEM BEFORE GOING TO THIS STORE!!

Hi Ladies,

I just wanted to share this experience with you because I am livid and want to tell anyone that is thinking about buying any services from the Wedding Center to be cautious. This is my review copied from Yelp.

If I could give zero stars, I would. If you're thinking of coming here for invitations, SAVE YOUR MONEY and go somewhere where the employees actually care about their customers. I came to the Wedding Center on 6/16 for wedding invitations, looking for somewhere to get a design that I created printed for an affordable price. A friend of mine recommended this place. Had I known getting a custom design would've been such a headache, I would've went elsewhere.

First, I went through the papers, envelope colors with Amy (who told me she's the manager of the invitation department). I gave her our info, placed the order, and left a $350 deposit. I left her with a picture and PDF files of my original design. I was told it would take 2-3 weeks to receive my invitations. After 2 weeks, I called to check on the progress. I was told Amy was out at a convention for a few days and would get back to me when she returned. There is no one else here that can help you with invitations. At 3 weeks, I finally was emailed the proof, only to see that the fonts that were used were completely different from my original design. I told her the names of the fonts that I had originally used (and that I would be OK with similar fonts), and asked if they could revise. It took another week to get the revision. So now we're a MONTH into this. When I got the revision, the text was lower case where it should have been upper case. I understand this might be minor to someone who isn't a graphic designer, but the fact is, I'm paying for this, so it should be right. I asked them to correct the text and change the RSVP date to 8/19, since this now was taking way longer than expected. Amy said she would take care of the changes. I called literally every week to check on this, because it seemed I only got updates if I called or emailed.

Finally, my invitations came in on 7/27, 6 weeks after I placed the order. I asked to see a picture of the invitation. The font still was incorrect (it was still lowercase, after I specifically asked for uppercase), and I was told it would take MORE time to get it re-printed. Amy did offer an apology, and then offered a refund for $100 for this first error. My fiancé came to pick up the invitations and paid the remaining balance. When he got home and I started assembling them, I noticed that ALL 180 of the mailing and RSVP envelopes had the WRONG address printed on them! We live in Briarwood, Queens and they printed Brentwood. That's a HUGE mistake, especially being that our correct address was on the order form. They claimed that they could get it reprinted and sent to me by the weekend, which wasn't much of an option for me, being that I needed to send invitations out YESTERDAY to send to family traveling from as far as Senegal. I also wasn't willing to put my trust in them that I would even get this in a timely fashion after being told invitations would take 2-3 weeks but yet took 6. I repeatedly was told it took so long because it was a custom job. That would've been fine had I been told that from the beginning. I would've taken my business elsewhere. I ended up buying $90 worth of envelopes on my lunch break and printing the addresses myself. Amy emailed me again offering up free place cards and menus as compensation, which I don't need.

Finally, I was able to speak with the owner who was very unprofessional and rude. We went in circles with her blaming everyone but the Wedding Center for all their errors and miscommunications. Apparently, the printer that they use made up 'Brentwood' and decided to use it instead of our correct town name. She also thought the $100 that I was previously refunded covered both the font mistake on 90 invitations and all 180 of the incorrect envelopes. She kept bringing up them offering to reprint for me, but couldn't seem to see how this wasn't reasonable for someone who already waited so long and had been extremely patient with their process. What's the point of spending $600 to send out invitations 3 weeks before the wedding? She asked my why I hadn't caught the mistake on the envelopes before picking them up. Am I on your payroll? Are you paying me to catch mistakes that I did not make? Even if my fiancé had noticed, how does that change anything? It's still wrong. Besides, I was already triple checking via FaceTime the invitations that still hadn't been corrected after I did catch a careless mistake. SO ALL IN ALL, I SPENT ROUGHLY $600 ON 90 SUBPAR INVITATIONS THAT DIDN'T MEET MY EXPECTATIONS, WITHOUT CORRECT ENVELOPES AND WAS REFUSED PROPER MONETARY COMPENSATION. In retrospect, no surprise here that they ask for cash payments. She then insultingly offered me $25 refund for my envelopes, which I declined. She gave insincere apologies and wished me luck on my wedding. Ok, good luck keeping this business open. You have horrible reviews on literally EVERY site for a reason.
