Invitations

I was wondering where people bought their invites and is there a way to get a good price or are most places pretty much the same. Someone told me they heard you should order the invites no later than 6 months in advance so now I am worried I have to start looking. Also what did you guys do with addressing the envelopes? Did you get a calligrapher or did you print it using a printer (directly on envelope)...also how much would a calligrapher cost? Thanks!

If I have something really indepth to say about a certain vendor I like to do it privately through emails. I know personally if it was a month before my wedding it's not too comforting to read bad things about a vendor you are about to use. Also we can praise our vendors forever but until we use them do we know how they are--take me for instance--picked what I thought was one of the best photographers on LI--and got minimal results :(

While everyone is entitled to their own opinion, we should all try to keep them at a respectable level. Thanks :)

I got my invites from Jaimee Lee mail order catologue. I thought there prices were very reasonable & service was quick (within 10 days from ordering...w/o paying for a rush order). The have alot to choose from and they will send you free samples if you request. I got 100 invites with response cards & envelopes, lined inner envelopes, printed return address on outer flap, envelope seals, and 100 place cards with name and date printed. It came to about $180 for everything, including tax/shipping. I ordered in the begining of Jan for my March 31 wedding. I had them out by Feb1.

It seemed alot more reasonable than the invitation/favor places I priced..also than the internet (there are several websites you can check out).

I did my envelopes on the printer, both innner and outer. I think they came out great and it was soo easy! If you have a large selection of fonts you probably have a caligraphy type, or something that will match the invitation font. It was pretty easy to do by setting up a mailmerge in word. Good Luck!

Invitations

I bought my invitations from Party Hardy (a party store chain). I love them and I recieved them in 5 days perfectly done, no mistakes. I paid 199.89 for everything. I did the calligraphy myself, which ended up being pretty easy. It took about 4 hours to address them, but they look so pretty and professional. Anyway, Party Hardy is a chain and you might have one in your local area. They have all the invitation books (i.e. Carlson Craft, Birchcraft, etc.). You have time if you wedding is in 6 months. It depends on if you want to have the envelopes done professionally, then you may need to give that person some time.

Invitations

Hi. I priced my invites with Maryann from Personal Touch. She works out of her house and is very sweet. She also has someone who does the hand calligraphy. I think total for the 125 invites and calligraphy it was going to cost me about $300. I didnt think it was that bad. I dont have her # on me but I will post tomorrow with her #.

But thanks for the ideas!!

Lisa

Is there a web site that you can order samples of invitations from?

Hope this helps. (Just don't host the party yourself!)

Jenn, just type in Carlson Craft or Birchcraft. You can look on any site at those invitations. They basically all carry the same. Then go in and search the books for the one you love the most. They also give a 20% discount on the whole order at Party Hardy.
