Inviting the President/Pope

We are thinking of inviting President Clinton and the Pope to our wedding. We know they wont come, but I have heard that they will send you a beautiful reply, that they actually sign themsleves. Is anyone doing this or has anyone ever heard of this???

Planning everything just me and my fi- and I am paying for everything. Two aunts have pitched into make the pillows, flower girl baskets. and decorate the toasting glasses and make the brides bag....

Inviting the President/Pope

Yes. My parents, who were married in 1964, invited the president and first lady. (President Lyndon Johnson)

As a result they have a beautiful reply hanging on their wall from the president and first lady regretting their not being able to attend and well their wishes to my parents.

I do not believe the public ever receives an authentic signature from the president of the united states. The pope...maybe.

I think this is an awesome idea to receive back a reply. It's beautiful nostalgia for the year you were married and who was president. I'm going for it. Where do you send the invitation too? Watch, THEY'LL SHOW UP!!!! UGH

Karen, how did you make out? I haven't gone the Milleridge (I like in queens & am car-less) I'll be going in the next few weeks.

Hmmm that sounds kinda neat. I Never heard of that before. Where do you send the invitation to? Please leave a message with the addresses for both either here on the message board or email me privately. I think I might like to do the same.

Thanks Brendan! I had never heard of this before, What a good idea!

In addition to the money, should I be giving them a token gift as well? My first guess is no - maybe a personal note thanking them for being a part of my day but I'm not sure what's appropriate.

Any ideas?
