I think that is a pretty good rate considering you are on a holiday weekend.

mine are $159 which I felt bad about in the beginnng, but the hotel offers free shuttle to and from the reception. IMO that in itself is worth the cost of the room.

That's hard to find on Long Island!

My friend from work actually has rooms blocked at the Wingate for July 4th weekend and she's paying the same price.

This is the exact quote I received from the Holiday Inn Express in Hauppauge.

One thing to realize - the month you marry in. If it's anytime during the early-late summer down here, hotels will run a pretty penny.

What does the cost come with? At least for me, my guests get a full breakfast, snacks throughout the day whenever they want, access to pool and whirlpool, transportation to and from the hotel to reception.

I got that same quote from the Wingate for my wedding last summer. My family freaked out too-so I also booked a block of rooms at the East Norwich Inn, which was less expensive- $118/night. We had a ton of out-of-town guests and they all ended up staying at the East Norwich Inn.

I think this is average. I am also paying $149, but at the Holiday Inn, which isn't the greatest Hotel; however, my wedding falls on the weekend of the Belmont Races!

Maybe go online and get quotes from other hotels to show her for that weekend to let her know it's reasonable.

the fox hollow for my guest with a discount is 219 plus tax and they are book up the day before my wedding..great i am sooo pissed

I actually blocked rooms at 4 hotels in Suffolk County over the Thanksgiving Day week. All of the hotels generally run from $140 - $240 and are off the LIE.

I blocked rooms for:
$99 @ the Holiday Inn
$99 @ the Radisson Inn
$109 @ the Hampton Inn
$126 @ the Marriott Residence Inn

Also I spoke to the Sheraton (Smithtown) and they also offered $99, but during a second conversation they offered $109 and not the time frame I wanted so I passed on them.

I wanted to give my guests some options and some wanted to bring pets or cook (Residence Inn has a full kitchen).

I still the think the $126 is high but I'm comfortable with the options. The sales people can and will negotiate.
