Re: is it mean to not invite children?

it's not mean.. when I was a kid it happened to me and I still love those family members who didn't invite me.

It's your Wedding.. your rules.

Adults won't admit it.. but once the get a babysitter they enjoy the time alone and they cn party without having to be on watch for the little ones. Have a good time sans the kids!

i think a wedding is an adult affair.

Exactly. Only the kids in my bridal party will be at the wedding. And I chose those very carefully.

Same here.

Re: is it mean to not invite children?

I have to say that IMO a wedding isnt an adult affair but a family affair - kids and all

I agree. I am having kids...and I didn't think it was worth the stress or the argument to exclude them. I hired 2 babysitters to come to the reception and hang out with the kids...and help watch them.

Re: is it mean to not invite children?

I am not inviting kids for the reason that you don't want them running all over the place. I also think that the parents enjoy themselves more if they get toleave them home!!

Re: is it mean to not invite children?

Originally I only wantd Fh and My 2 daughters to be the only kids at the wedding-but Fh has 3 younger brothers(16,11 and 6) and he has a niece and nephew(1 and 3)
and they have to be invited...But I'm nervous about it because I know for a fact that FMIL doesnt watch her younger kids good at all AND his 2 brothers dont watch their kids well either....I just dont want then running around like maniacs!

I feel the same way about kids running around at the wedding... I am only inviting the older kids 10 and up...

Some people have had problems with this but I don't care it is my wedding!!!!!!!!!

Re: is it mean to not invite children?

Thanks girls, family have really been trying to make me out to be a bridezilla! If it was up to me I'd elope and then no-one would have to worry about kids, or adults for that matter!

Re: is it mean to not invite children?

I don't think its mean. I love kids but on my wedding day I want to enjoy myself and party. I don't want to hear kids screaming. If people get pissed off then I'm sorry but it's our day and that's the way we feel.

I'm not having children, thankfully there aren't too many real young ones in the family, as for my friends I wanted to give them a break and enjoy the evening without running and having to watch the kids!

Exactly, the little ones that are in the family would be a handful for their parents to watch and i would much rather see them enjoy themselves

Re: is it mean to not invite children?

It's not 'mean' at all ! - The only thing I would be weary of ......is inviting SOME people's childern and not others - that may cause a problem -

Re: is it mean to not invite children?

We would invite children, but we can't because of $$$. It would add about 20-30 people to our guest list, and I'm already freaking out.

Re: is it mean to not invite children?

I absolutely adore kids, but I'm not having any at my wedding. I don't think it's mean - it's a personal choice. My brother has 2 girls and he said if I let them come - he'd have to watch them all night, instead of having a good time at the wedding. I guess sometimes even the parents appreciate it!!! jmo

Re: is it mean to not invite children?

We did invite our bridal party and close family with their children and left it up to them if they wanted to bring them or not. I think it's a personal preference though and since it's your wedding you have a right to do what you want.

Re: is it mean to not invite children?

I'm having my nieces and nephews because I am really close with them and they are in the bridal party. It wouldnt be the same without them there even though they are little.

Re: is it mean to not invite children?

it's not mean, it's your choice, but not a lot of people will be happy about that.
