the ladies at one bridal store told me that 2nd time brides aren't supposed to have a train, but can wear white. maybe she can do that if she's worried?

Actually, I read that the veil signifies 'purity' and that white is just a tradition that came about when Queen Victoria got married in white- she was the first to do it. Prior to her wedding, women wore 'the nicest dress they could get' regardless of it's color...

Please help a sister out ....

My close friend is having a debate with me b/c she thinks I should not wear white. She thought the elderly people attending might be offended. I think I should wear whatever I want. It's been a while since I've played the bridal game so if this is improper ettiquette PLEEEZE let me know.

That would be the single tackiest thing you could ever do in a wedding if you listen to what other people think and don't wear what YOU want to wear. Traditions are sweet, but sometimes true love comes the second, third or fourth time.....you get the point. Wearing white/ivory is what's expected of bride....and if your elderly relatives can't look past the fact that you have found true love, then (as FH says) F-'em! Their opinions don't matter, it's your wedding day....what color are you supposed to wear??? solid black??? PLEASE WEAR WHITE IF THAT'S WHAT YOU WANT AND DON'T LET SOMEONE TALK YOU OUT OF IT OVER AN OLD-FASHIONED WAY OF THINKING!!!!! I am a single mother getting married for the first time and in reality, I suppose I fall into your catergory.....if a single person dares to tell me I shouldn't have worn white, I'd probably have them escorted out.....ok, that would be overboard, but still....this is my day to shine....i shouldn't have to discount it because of mistakes I made years ago.

Its my second wedding also, I am wearing Ivory but I wanted Ivory at the first one and was forced in to wearing white...anyway, you do what ever you want. Whatever makes you happy. I'm wearing ivory and adding RED to my dress Its a Valentine wedding...just think of the expression on those old people!!...

Its your day and you can do whatever you want!! I mean...so you're a second time bride..so what? The point of the white dress was to display innocence and virginity...and if we still stuck to that tradition...um..yeah...I'm pretty sure well over more than half of the girls on here could not wear white.!!!!!!

I'm a firm believer in doing what makes you happy. Plus I don't personally know ANYONE who would frown on wearing white for a 2nd wedding. Most people don't think that way anymore.

my mom was married a second time and she found a bridal book saying you can wear white as often as you like just dont wear a veil

well it's kinda like how many brides are virgins - you wear a 'blusher' veil that symbolizes virgin too - majority of brides still do it - so do what makes you happy!

The bride can wear whatever she wants. To hell with anyone who thinks otherwise. I will wear my dream wedding gown, long and white, with a veil. Why? Because I didn't get a wedding the first time around. If anyone doesn't like it, they don't have to come to my wedding.

Per Emily Post who is the etiquette of all etiquette, she say white is absolutely fine. The only thing she say is not acceptable is a blusher. ( the piece in front of your face). There are lots of books for second time even third time brides. They all say Do what You wish and have a great day!!!!!
