Keeping the Peace

I'm not talking about in-laws...I'm talking about this board.

I've been participating on this board since October of last year. Until recently, all postings were cordial, pleasant and overall cooperative in nature. Now, there's a great deal of hostility floating around and I'd like to suggest some form of a truce.

Life is stressful enough these days. The intent of this board is to assist us, not to create more problems.

I couldn't agree more. Even though I am new to this board, in the last month or so, I have found it be a key resource in my planning. I have read and taken into account everyone's comments, whether they were positive or negative.

While everyone is entitled to their own opinion, we should all try to keep them at a respectable level. Thanks :)

If I have something really indepth to say about a certain vendor I like to do it privately through emails. I know personally if it was a month before my wedding it's not too comforting to read bad things about a vendor you are about to use. Also we can praise our vendors forever but until we use them do we know how they are--take me for instance--picked what I thought was one of the best photographers on LI--and got minimal results :(

While everyone is entitled to their own opinion, we should all try to keep them at a respectable level. Thanks :)

Some folks are getting hostile in expressing their opinions on this board. Some are even attacking the person who posted. If you read all the postings (which I do) you'll see what I'm referring too.

I could have just kept my mouth shut - and maybe I should have - but its just a shame to see such a good thing 'turn'......

I don't want to make more of an issue of this than it needs to be. Its not too hard to play nice in the sandbox.. : )

Hi Girls,

Listen, Im getting Paranoid here. I know I have come here to express both the good things I have found on my own dealings as well as the bad ones.

If thats vendor bashing then I guess it is. I look at this as a place where everyone here has something really important in common. We should all be candid about our feelings as long as its not directed to hurt anyone but to help. Its just my feeling that if someone could have given me some sugestions, be it as a recomendation, or a note of caution, and it saved me some greef, headackes, and time and money...then I would be grateful, eather way. I know, speaking of myself....I went through alot of un-necesary times, very stressful, and to date still hardly anything I am planing goes without some sort of small problem. I hope in my postings I never offended any brides here. I got ALOT of great help here from so many really nice people.

Agreed! That's the point! Honesty is important....but so is tact. It is important to keep the lines of communication open & help each other

The problem is that people are being slammed for their statements and the attacks are becoming personal...that defeats the value of the board.

No need to be paranoid.......just aware. : )
