LOOOOONNNNGGGGG story, but...... since you asked

He had gotten his mothers engagement ring (she stopped wearing it) from her four months before he actually proposed. When he had first gotten it, he had put the jewelry box in his jacket pocket to bring home. As we were leaving, he asked me to start his car so I went in his jacket for his keys, but found the box instead! I quickly rezipped the jacket thinking I was on candid camera or something!!!! I was yapping about really dumb things all the way home all the while wondering when he was going to do it!!! He waited four months! The whole time I would frisk his jackets anytime we went out to eat. I would hold the box in my hand when he wasn't home, dying to open it (many people can't believe that I never opened it, but I really really didn't!). I found out later that he had it with him several times, but each moment wasn't what he wanted. He finally decided to propose at our favorite restaurant Waterzooie in Garden City. We went there for dinner, but because of Memeorial Day weekend, they were short staffed for the usually slow holiday weekend. They actually ran out of things. Dinner was good, but not great, so we went home again..... this time I was ticked. I went home and straight to bed! The next morning I figured I would give him some props to go with..... so I told him about this dream that I had about how he had asked me to marry him and I was horrified because the ring was huge (walnut size huge). I kept going on and on and decided I wasn't going to get out of that bed until he caved in. I had to use the rest room, so after, I hurried back and jumped in bed. He was moving around the bedroom, then knelt next to the bed, talking to me, teasing me. He finally crawled back in bed and started talking again about my dream. He reached behind him and pulled out the box and said well I hope this isn't what you dreamt about and opened the box and I started bawling like a baby and hugged him and kissed him. I took the box and was looking at it (no it wasn't walnut huge-thank god!). He chuckled and said well are you going to put it on? I said no!!!!! you're supposed to do that! So he did and asked me to marry him. So in the end......
We got engaged on May 30. 2005 in bed, but don't tell my mom that, cause I told her that he asked me at dinner!

NOTHING. Went ring shopping together, and he just pulled it out that night around 11 30ish when we were watching tv. I was half asleep on the couch - he had to go home, and no one was awake for me to tell He didn't even say the 4 magic words every girl needs to hear - 'will you marry me'

oh well. I'm still a little bitter about it. In the end, i know it doesnt matter, because i have him and we have forever.

I had absolutely NO IDEA.. Just thinking about it all makes me tear up all over again. I can't believe its been over a year already... I am so freakin sentimental and sappy tonight.. gotta love PMS and being emotional

FI asked me on my last day of student teaching for the semester.. I was crying all day because i was leaving my students, especially my 1 on 1 i took under my wing.. I went to his house believing we were going to his uncle's house and walked in to candles, a bouquet of daisies (he never ever EVER gives me flowers), a build a bear with a yankees tshirt on, pictures of us from when we were dating all spread out on his living room floor.. at that point i thought i was going to vomit i was so shocked.. and he was nowhere to be found.. finally through my tears i begged him to come out, so he came out of his room.. i dont remember what happened after that, i dont remember what he said to me, all i remember is collapsing onto the floor and he had to force me to stand up so he could propose.. i was a snotty, dribbly, mess.. then he mentioned something about wishing my mom was there to see it and i lost it again.. he had me so shocked, he kept saying we couldnt get engaged until after i graduated (may 05)... but we got engaged 12-10-04!! He did such a great job i i was so proud of him! i didnt even know he had gotten the ring, or asked for my fathers blessing months in advance!

Well, I picked out the ring, so I knew that.

In theory, I didn't know the exact day he'd be proposing. But my FH hates going into the city, and knows I love it. So when he suggested going to the city, I knew it was coming. He tried to throw me off by taking me all over the city- first to the Central Park Zoo, then ice skating at Rockefeller Center, then dinner in Little Italy, then to the top of the Empire State Building where he finally proposed.

well i knew it was coming at some point becasue he had come to my father to ask for my hand in marriage..... so like 3 months went by and stillnothing.. i think we were all starting to wonder. My dad was even thinking maybe he had second thoughts.... Anyway my FH is the type of guy who loved to do everythign unexpected; never on a holiday or on a birthday when one mght be expecting some kind of surprise...So when people were telling me X-mas times, its coming my response was 'now way, i know Angelo!'
Bo was I wrong. On X-Mas Eve, we went to his house open gift with his family and then we had to get to my house to have dinner. so as we were opening gift with his whole family... like 15 people he was trying to convince me to open my gifts i opened ome cute lil stuff and my laptop...so then he was like here is the last one. it was a big box so i thought nothing of it...so i start unwapping and i was it wa a precious moment box and i got so excited since I collect them... he took the fiuring out of the box for me so i dont see the name.. so i was taking the bubble paper off and there it was.. he had attatched the rin to the box that the lil boy is holding.. then in front of all those people he got down on one knee........ I didnt expect it at all and it was the cutest thing i had ever seen.. here is a pic of the figurine

i knew it was coming soon b/c we had been together for 3 1/2 years and had been through some tough times recently and really bonded and had become soooo much closer the previous year...... but i def didnt know the day of. And i have give FH credit bc he was def creative. I was getting ready bc we were going away for 4th of july. i just got out of the shower and he comes in my room and wants to play hangman. im like ok (kind of annoyed that he is bothering me while i am getting ready) so we played and i was barely paying attention. in the end he spells out 'will you marry me?' i could have died. i thought i would ball my eyes out but i did not say a word. i was sooooo shocked. After the proposal i had the paper laminated so i could save it! im such a loser!! LOL

I been with FH for 8 years it was time.....lol but he always said when i finished grad school I graduated in May and in June I was engaged.

I had kind of the same scenario...

I had been with FH for 7 years and he always told me when we graduate college and get jobs, but it took him a few years longer to graduate. He graduated last May, got a job in July and proposed to me in November. I knew it was coming, but I had absolutely NO CLUE the day of. He really surprised me and I totally thought he was joking!!

im still not engaged (although we've been planning our wedding and looking at halls.. we just know we wanna get married next year) but i know its happening in june while we're down in disney. i just dont know which day. we're going for 4 days for our anniversary.. he knows i dont want it on my anniversary cause i want it to be on a normal day.. hopefully he'll do it the first day we're there so then we can celebrate the whole time we're there. we're the biggest disney freaks and i've always dreamt of getting proposed to in disney.. it does kinda take it away cause i know i just dont know what second and every minute we're there im gonna be like 'is it now' in my head. i did tell him he could call off the disney thing but he insists it has to be there

I knew it was coming eventually but he really threw me off. Months ago he told me it would be too obvious to do it on Christmas or my birthday and that it would be when I least suspected it. So I waited patiently for what seemed like eternity. I should have really listened to those words. On Christmas eve. 2005 he proposed! I really didn't think it would be that day.

we have been dating for 6 years, so it wasnt a shock. I was starting to sniff it out, but I was surprised by the ring and how he did it. I was surprised, bc everyone knew and he showed the ring to my mom and grandma, and no one told!!

we new we wanted to get married shortly after dating and we agreed to wait to get married until after I was done with Grad school but i never knew when he was going to propose. i was bored one day and said that i wanted to go to the mall, he said i'm going to wind up spending money, i said i dont care lets go. so off we went, he picked a huge fight with me right in the middle of the mall and i was pissed and stormed off and went off to shop to vent, little did i know he did this on purpose in order to go buy a ring. he found me later on and was like hi lets get out of here and go somewhere with this huge grin on his face.. i had no idea what was going on other then that i was still pretty pissed so i was just like whatever and went but didn't talk to him.. he started talking about weddings and how i'd like to be proposed to but we did that all the time so i didnt think anything of it. he wanted to stop at a park and talk through our fight cause he saw i was still pissed so i said sure and well long story short he did it there .. totally unbeknown to me that he even had the ring on him!!
