Lonely in New Jersey

Hi all!! as you guys know I was married on the 26th of February. After the honeymoon I moved into my Husbands studio Apartment. This was only to last until the end of this month when we were scheduled to close on our new home. Well as with all real estate deal nothing ever goes smoothly, so now the closing is 4/27 not bad I can handle it. Here is my problem. My husband is a resident and as part of his work he spends on average 2 to 3 nights per week in the hospital, sometimes they are even weekends. I do not have any friends in NJ and this was my first weekend staying there and not going home to LI. I was miserable!! LI is only about 1 hour and 15min. away, but I can not continue to run back and forth all of the time. while I am very happy with my marriage and totally looking forward to moving and spend time doing stuff with that. It has been really hard being a newlywed and not having my husband home, and not having any friends. I need to find some activities to meet some new people..does anyone have any suggestions, or does anyone live in NJ?

Jamelle

I'm getting myself an E-Z pass!

After all this wedding stuff is over, I am making a vow to get out there and see you at least every other week. You have such a great personality, I think it would be impossible for you not to make friends. Check out the local college/adult ed. courses. That's always a good way of meeting people. Does NJ have a wedding website?? It worked for us! Can't hurt!

I feel all the vendors do deserve to be fed and tipped. There has just been so much talk on here about vendors/halls telling brides what they SHOULD give. I think it should be what you CAN give. Weddings are not easy these days and it all adds up. If you walk into a hall and book a 40th birthday party, it's 40.00 a head, maybe less, as soon as you go in and say Wedding, the price goes up 50 bucks more. It gets crazy sometimes. I do feel that all vendors work hard, but I work really hard everyday of the week, no-one tips me. I also do side jobs, calligraphy, etc., I don't get tips for that and if people do great, if not, I still was paid for my service. Just my opinion.

Zellers was actually 150. Not nearly as good (in our opinion)

Hi Jamelle. What about a church group?? or volunteering somewhere locally?? Think about something you like to do and see if there is something related to that that you could volunteer doing etc. Good Luck!!
