Milleridge Cottage Brides

How many people do you guys think the Milleridge Cottage can really hold? I know they say up to 500 people, but I think that cannot be for a wedding. I was hoping to have a fairly "small" wedding of 150 people, but the list is now sky rocketing, and I may end up with 250 people. I saw the room set up with 17 tables, and 12 chairs at each table. I would only want to put 10 people at a table to avoid everyone being squished. So, that equals 170 people. With that many tables, the room looked full to me, and the dance floor looked to be a decent size. How in the world are they going to fit 7 more tables without everything getting crowded. But they keep telling me they can easily accomodate up to 500. It seems impossible. I'm really worried everyone will be crowded.

Also, is anyone having their ceremony in the atrium? How are 250 people going to fit in that space for both the ceremony and the cocktail hour. I am envisioning a zoo!! I think the Milleridge has such a quaint, intimate feel. But now that the list is bigger, I fear it will be too crowded. I did book the entire cottage, so if it's nice out, people can wander into the gardens. But if it rains, everyone will be stuck inside.

Anyone else having a big wedding there? What do you think about the size of the space.

I had 20 tables with 10 people at each and we had plenty of room!! I can't imagine however, 500 people there. I think 250 will be fine and you will have enough room. Just a reminder to Cottage brides. The cocktail hour is considered a "standing room" cocktail hour. Which means many people stand- I wasn't crazy about it but it worked out fine.......

By the way it's nice to hear that you did care, if you were going to spend at least $1000 on something you did'nt care about that would be pretty foolish.

Hi! I am having my wedding there in September. Also we hope to use the outside. The only thing that my future mother in law was concerned about was the cocktail hour and how there was less seats than people there. But basically cocktail hours are for mingling. As far as the reception, I wouldnt worry about it at all! The woman there told me that they once had a republican party thing there and it was over 500 people and that was too much. I think that 250 should be fine. We are probably having 200 coming.

We are having a large guest list as well (at 250 right now and growing) I agree with Gina- I wouldnt worry about the space-- as far as the cocktail hour goes we were told there would be seating Approx 140 for inside If weather is nice I think it was 220 total(in and out) Was anyone else told this? Of course I am going to call tomorrow and find out My roommates brother had ceremony there with large #'s and she said it was fine

She seemed very nice but is also out of my budget. The Milleridge referred me to 2 folks for makeup and hair. I left messages for them tonight...I'll post the info when I hear back from them.

Good Luck!

I've been to a wedding there (210 people)and if it wasn't for the tables outside we would have all been standing in the limited space of the cocktail hour. That was a big deal to my fiance and I. I'd be careful if you don't think you can have it outside. 210 fit just right in the dinning room. We were perfectly comfortable.

Jack, my future brother-in-law got married there and I thought the food tasted terrific. And I have been to a lot of weddings. My fiance and I checked it out two weeks ago. However, they did offer a very limited menu for a high price compared to other places in that area. In other words, we thought the other places offered us a lot more for our money. It gets just an OK rating on our scale. Good luck!

Good luck on your decision.
