Sorry to be blunt on this one but, Oh well!

When FH's brother was married in 2004, his mother didn't like their favors. But guess what, the bride's aunt bought and put together the favors as her gift to the couple. The couple was young and had little money, so this saved them $.

Their favors were picture frames in an organza bag with a personalized ribbon.

Guess what...I am having picture frames too! OH WELL!!

Can't please everyone!!

It doesn't matter what others think, it's what matters to you and FH. If you like them, keep them. Don't try to appease everyone as you will only stress yourself out more!

My MIL ans SIL did the same thing, and then tried to make other suggestions...ummmm, hello? It's MY wedding and you didn't even DO a favor!!!!!!

I wracked my brain to come up with something else, and you know what? I went with my original favor (maple syrup) and it was a huge hit!

Final advice, DO WAHT YOU WANT, IT'S YOUR WEDDING!!!!!

On top of all the drama I've had this week from my crazy BM, my FMIL told me today that she doesn't like my final giveaway and that we should get something different. I have 4 favors total...

1. little baskets that have our names and date on them that my uncle had custom made for each place setting
2. votive candles that say 'thank you for sharing our special day'
3. picture frame placecard holders
4. coasters that say 'LOVE'

FMIL doesn't like #4 and wants something bigger. Back to the drawing board. Any suggestions?

Who cares what she thinks, all that matters is you and FH like them. I think they are a cool idea, and useable

I definitely understand the whole 'respect her opinion' issue with FMIL. Sometimes, you don't need to care what she says, but when it comes to wedding time I chose not to rock the boat either. She opposed our idea of coffee favors with the coffee scooper. So we chose another edible favor. If it really bothers you now, then maybe you can find a couple of favors that all of you can choose from and narrow down to the one you will give away.

thanks for understanding. i am going to go out with FMIL and FSIL on tuesday to find something else. it's not just my wedding, its FH's too and his family's opinion matters to me. please dont judge, ladies. i feel like i'm under alot of pressure with FH's family. they have very high expectations. at FH's cousins wedding they gave out this huge vases. so FH's mom just wants us to make sure we do something comparable. instead of 1 huge favor, i thought 3 or 4 small ones would be fine. and since 3 of the 4 will already be on the tables, i wanted something to hand out as everyone was leaving. and i'm under more pressure because he has another cousin getting married 3 months after us and i don't want the 'whispering' that our stuff wasn't good enough. it's very frustrating...

I love them! I think they are so cute! It's your wedding, not your MILs and if that's what you want then I think that you should stick to your guns. People aren't coming to get a gift, they are coming to share in the celebration with you.

I completely understand your attempt at trying to not rock the boat, and I agree that this is also FH and his family's wedding as well. But I don't think that 'bigger' is really a fair way to think about favors. Personally I love the 'Love' coasters and it was one of my top choices when we picked ours out, sometimes I still wonder if we should've gone with them instead.

What bothers me the most is how your FMIL is turning your wedding into a part of some sort of competition by comparing it to those of other family members!! That's horrible, FH and you need to keep your priorities in order, the favors are a symbol of appreciation to your guests, not a token in a game. Let people make their comments if it makes them feel good to put down a newly married couple, and you and FH can still live happily ever after!

So I say go with your FMIL and FSIL and look for other favors, but don't take those coasters off the table just yet!! Keep an open mind and ask them to do the same. Leave the coasters as an option and tell them about all the girls on here who really like the idea, you never know, you might just end up changing their minds!! Good luck!!

Um is she paying for them? If not, then I don't think it matters what she thinks. If you like them get them.

I think those favors are great, I would'nt listen to FMIL. If you like them that is all that matters, it's your wedding!

Oh, and also I gave glass coasters just like yours, but they were Christmas themed, and so many people used them. I know because I would see them out at peoples houses after the wedding. So I think it's a great idea. And I was so happy to see people using them.

I got the coasters for a wedding I went to and they are the only favors I have ever kept. Theyare on my living room table right now. Don't let her get to you.

4 favors is alot, but I have to say the Love coasters are very nice, I would keep them.
