My mother called. She brought in my/our dog today because she's been coughing the last few days and having a hard time breathing.
The doctors said Gizzy has congenital heart failure and her lungs are filling up with fluid. They said there is nothing they can do, short of dragging it out for her for a few weeks at best.
They are going to have her euthanized tomorrow![]()

I can't even describe how I feel right now. I'm sitting here at work trying to keep it together and I have to keep escaping to the bathroom to cry. She's only eight and the best Boston Terrier in the world. I feel like I'm losing my best friend...
OMG, I feel the same way. My dog was 12 when he had to be put down due to rectal cancer
I was living in NC at the time but I bawled like a baby at work when I found out that he had to be put down. That's the hard part about having a pet, you have to do what's best for them and not think of your own feelings. What made me happy was that I saw my dod in February (when he was already sickly) and he was so excited to see me (it had been 2 months since I had last seen him). He actually did a double take when I walked into my mom's house and followed me around for the next 3 days. That was the last time I had seen him.
Just think, your dog is on the other side of the 'rainbow bridge' felling free and happy.
Keep your head up, we're here for u

Re: My heart is breaking...
I am so sorry to hear that. My FH just went thhrough the same thing with his 9 yr dalmation. I went through a similar experience last year. it's hard to let go, but you have to do what's best for the dog. You don't want it to suffer.I feel for you!
