Name-Change Kit

Hey Kids,

Has anyone used the Name-Change Kit? I want to know if it's worth it before I spend $30 on it....

Thanks!

I haven't but you can find most of that info online....I posted a bunch of web links for SS, passport, DMV, etc. sometime last month. If you scan my postings you can find them.

**note, you should also get one of those change of address cards from your post office and forward your mail from your maiden name to your married name.

I actually put that website on my favorites list. I was just wondering if anyone experienced doing it form by form or if they found it easier if all the forms came in one package and everything could be done by mail....

Name-Change Kit

For simplicity purposes, I'd imagine getting it all in one kit might be the best way to go. And worth the $30 - I'd also be curious to know if anyone else has purchased the kit & if it helped...

I'm tackling this after the honeymoon. For most things, I'll need the license to change the info anyway. Then there are others like my company 401K, email ddresses, business cards, professional licenses, health/dental/life/disability insurance forms, employee files w/new emergency contact info, withholding forms - things I'm sure that kit doesn't cover.....ACK!!!!!

I'm already dizzy ; )

Here is a quick tip for all of you doing a name change for the first time. When you change your driver's license ask DMV to let you keep the old one with your maiden name. That way you will still have a driver's license that matches your credit cards while you wait for the new ones to come. When I took my maiden name back after a divorce a few years ago it took several months for everything to come with my new(old)name.

If you and your fiance have decided only to include your parents names on the invitation you can do something like:

Mr. & Mrs. John Jones invite you to share in their joy at the marriage of their daughter, Melissa Jones to Michael Smith...
