Re: Need Advice and Opinions about changing our date.(LONG)

After reading your posts, my vote is for October 2nd:

1) It is sooo close to Sept., so the grounds should be just as beautiful as a Sept. date.
2) You'll save $1,000 that can be used for whatever else your heart desires
3) Your families won't have to deal with the craziness associated with the holidays (increased travel costs, the cost of holiday gifts plus a wedding, traveling in difficult weather, etc.)
4) It will give you lots more time to heal (I wish you a speedy recovery from your surgery!)
5) The date works for the vendor that you said you're concerned about.

Also, you could consider doing a 'Christmas in October' themed wedding, since you said that Christmas would be your dream wedding. Why not get the best of everything?

Best of luck to you and your FH with your decision!

Oh! Have you considered Sunday of Columbus Day weekend? I know it's not as popular to have the holiday off but an Oct. Sun (even if its a holiday) might be cheaper!

Being an October bride I have to agree that it's a beautiful month to get married - the air is cooler, colors are vibrant and you get some really nice warm days.

I saw the Swan Club last October - the grounds were filled with flowers.....

Go for it!

If it's only and extra $1000 and you will both be happy, then I would do that. You want to both be happy with the decision.

I'm partial to OCTOBER only because I love that time of year. Christmas may be a hard time for your family. The prices to travel go SKY high during that month. I think your best bet would be Oct/Nov or you'll have to pay more for Sept.

Sorry if I wasn't much help.

I agree... Oct is a beautiful month & I have been to the Swan in Oct..the grounds are still gorgeous.

Try to negotiate with the Swan Club..... it makes no sense to me that Sept is more costly than May????????? Maybe if you let them know why you need to change it they can work something out.

I had my wedding in Jan & it was kinda difficult for some of my oot-ers. also it was 6 degrees!!!!

thats 6 degrees without the wind chill where is the frozen bridesmaid smiley lol because thats what i had.

i think you should pay the extra 1000 pookie because christmas is hard to get peopel to commit to a date and halls are usually more expensive or booked with holiday parties. thats why i did jan it was less expensive then dec and i wanted a winter wedding

Bluetank FM :) Thanks!!

Ladies, thanks for all the words of support regarding my surgery..

In the scheme of things we are already over budget so 1000 is not something we couldn't handle.. I just don't like it..lol

I've seen photo's of a former swannie wedding held oct 26 .. here I will show you..

First, best wishes on your surgery and recovery.

Second, October is NOT an ugly month - it's my favorite month of the entire year!

Same here on both accounts!

Kinda personal questions before I give my opinion..you dont have to answer ...but when is the surgery date? I'd hate to presume, but I recall you 'maybe' mentioning this once before and I was thinking how long is your recovery time...you can fm if you like..

IMO for my first opinion..I like October! The flowers will still show, the leaves will be beautiful, not too hot, not too cold!

Hi Mama!
You can do one of two things in my opinion!
One....FIGHT with the Swan Club and make them not charge you the 1k extra. I am sure you can talk them down girl....I will help!

Two....Talk to the hunny about October. Not for nothing but I would not spend 1k to have a wedding a couple of DAYS sooner. Someone suggested October 2nd. Go for that date.

In my opinion and MOST will disagree...1k makes a difference and unless you are at the point where your hunny wont budge on October, even REALLY early October, then do it and spend 1k on something else!

Kisses and Lots of 's

Re: Need Advice and Opinions about changing our date.(LONG)

we were torn between september and october. we didn't want to do it on a holiday weekend and we didn't want sept 11th. october 2nd is my birthday, and i didn't want to do it then, so we decided on september 18th!

i love the fall and hate to be hot (no summer wedding for me). if $$$$ is a concern i would say go for october!

No matter what I need atleast 6 months to recoup.. so late Oct 04 would be the latest I can have anything done and recoup.. that would put me in april.. it's kinda cutting it close..

Re: Need Advice and Opinions about changing our date.(LONG)

Go with whatever makes you happy. I think September or October would be ideal. I saw the pics of Swan club during winter and it looked absolutely beautiful, but it seems like a December wedding would be too much of a hassle.

I LOVE the early fall so i'm all for October. - and as far as YOU loving December, go for it ! People will know about the date of your wedding well before they have to begin their Xmas shopping!! - Just don't do it like, the week before, - I'd stick to early Dec
