Personally, I'd rather move it to a backyard wedding and not have to cut the guest list. Plus if you do that you get to hire the caterer and you have alot more flexibility. I've seen alot of cool stuff for non-catering hall weddings in the bridal magazines.

One of THE BEST weddings i have ever been to was in a back yard. you could have it as long as you wanted, as large as you wanted, and best of all with EVERYONE that you want. under a large tent with a dance floor.... and things tend to cost a reasonable amount less.

I like the backyard wedding idea it will be more special and you'll have same number of guests. Summer is also beautiful season to get married in.

hmm... i LOVE the backyard wedding idea, and looked into it myself becasue my parents have a huge farm in south jersey... but by the time you rented all the items, figured out how to do the electric for the DJ or band, and then figured out the bathroom situation for that many people (even if you have 3 bathrooms, that might not be enough for a couple hundred people),it just wasn't worth it... plus, the weather in the summer is hot outdoors, which might affect how much people dance....
we ended up just renting the community room at a condo complex. it was BEAUTIFUL- right on the water, with floor to ceiling windows looking out onto the water, and a deck for people to hang out on for the coctail hour, and we found a great caterer that took care of everything. i'm sure there are lots of places that aren't traditional wedding halls that would be really pretty for your wedding...

The backyard wedding sounds great so you don't have to worry about your guest list, but you do have to worry about weather, even if you get tents and stuff sometimes the rain can be so overwhelming that the tents can tend to gave in. If you are willing to take the chance I say go for it.
