Re: Newlyweds: Did anyone give you a gift after the wedding?

I recently sent a gift to a friend who got married in July 2004. I thought since I was already late, I would make it a Happy Anniversary gift... My friend, however, was pretty pissed about the delay and actually sent 2 emails demanding a gift.

Are getting gifts w/in a certain timeline that big a deal to everyone??? I mean, would anyone of you actually demand a gift from any of your guests? I honestly don't think it's that big of a deal.

Maybe I'll feel differently when I'm a bride.

While she was doing her thank you cards, she was probably trying to figure out what had happened to your gift.

In all honesty, if one of my CLOSE friends had done that, I mean someone whom I can REALLY talk to, I would probably have asked her what was going on with the gift...I probably would have said it in a joking manner, but I would probably have said, 'I'm glad you had a good time and enjoyed your dinner. BTW, you're not getting a thank you card.' Again, I would ONLY have said something if it was a VERY close friend. (this is assuming there weren't any financial issues on her end)

Yes, we got a frying pan last month from someone who attended the wedding and gave nothing the day of, 6 months after the wedding.

Was it lost in the mail or something????

No, it was a friend of MIL's who lives in Maine. At the wedding she said she didn't get anything because she didn't know what we needed (hence the registry and cash is always best!). So the next time she was in town, 6 months later, she dropped a frying pan off with my MIL to give to us.
