I don't think I've ever been to a wedding without a cocktail hour.

I think people mainly look forward to cocktail hour food, rather than reception food. I know I look forward to the cocktail hour the most!! Maybe have a cocktail reception instead???
I agree

Stewart Manor Country Club hold up to 200 people and quoted me $60 per head for a March wedding. With all included. Call around I am sure you can find a place with all in that range.

Re: no cocktail hour
Just because people have never heard of it, doesn't mean you can't do it. A 4 Course dinner is plenty and you will probably save tons of money - on the food, the hours you have the hall, and the labor hours. It certainly doesn't hurt to ask... I don't see why a place would say no - they do anniversary parties, other events. No reason why they can't bend just because it's a wedding.

Re: no cocktail hour
Instead of cocktail hour you can have food passed around. I went to wedding upstate NY, that had a veggie and fruit platter with one tray of shrimp cocktail. The food devoured....and alot of people from LI were expecting more food..My parents went to a wedding at the Carltun that did not have CH just ordevers (can't spell)
can't tell you the price difference.
