Go with Wamu, there's a new one opening in Wantagh.

Well, I just checked it out online and it's not so free afterall.

I may just open a second account with Commerce (which I love in theory but think their online banking is lacking ).

Thoroughly agree!!!!!

I went from Citibank, which has an awesome site, to Commerce. But, in the end, it was worth saving the fees.

my ebay & paypal account has been verifed (at Chase) along with my home address and i've never had a problem.

i have overdraft also but it does keep peace in your mind knowing things will clear. i rarely use it unless its an emergency.

I just switched from Citibank to Chase. My firm has an arrangement with Chase for no fees, otherwise I would probably go to Wamu.

you want a free checking acct or free checks? Cause I believe the plus thing is only if you want free checks.

yay, paying for the actual paper checks isn't bad, if you don't use then often. It;s the accoutns where you have to pay if you write more than 3 checks a month or whatever, that s uck.

I have HSBC- It requires a minimum, we pay for our checks, but nothing else.

My husband is the manager at that new Wamu in Wantagh. June262004 is working there also! He is working out of Hicksville now, if you are interested in opening an account soon, ask for Larry.

Right the 'Free checks' with the plus pack are actual physical checks. If you are just ysing it for ebay you probbaly won't write many checks, so you don't need 'free check' writing checks is always free. I had WaMu for a long time, but theor customer service was horrible and they made some really bad banking errors on my accounts. They were really impossible so I got ticked off and switched to north fork, but they are raping me with fees, as you say
